"A good game that gets frustrating at times..."

Ice Climber for the Wii is exactly the same as the NES version of Ice Climber. The game costs 500 points to download. Here is my review on Ice Climber.

Story: 4/10

I honestly have no clue what the story is about, but I will try my best at it. One day a bird comes to steal the vegetables from the Ice Climbers. Now Popo and Nana must make their way up to the mountain and to the bird and retrieve their lost vegetables. I have no clue if this is accurate or not. I give the story a 4.

Graphics: 8/10

The graphics for Ice Climbers is average. Looking back at older NES games, Ice Climbers has more arcade-ish kind of look. The character and enemies designs are well done. The producers could've worked on the mountains appearance a little better though. I give the graphics an 8.

Sound: 9/10

No complaints from me about the sound. The noises and music is average and has nothing special to it. I give the sound a 9.

Controls: 6/10

This is one part of the game that really frustrate me. You have the option of either using the Wiimote, the Gamecube controller, or the Classic Controller. You use the A button to jump, B to use your mallet, and the control stick to move. Jumping in this game is very frustrating. It is hard to jump up to the higher levels because you have to lean the control stick into the direction you jump. This is the only complaint I have about the controls. I give the controls a 6.

Gameplay: 9/10

The objective of this game is to reach the top of the mountain. One the way you will have to break up parts of the floor to reach the higher levels of the mountain. Scaling the mountain will not be easy though. The mountain is infested with enemies like Topis, Polar Bears, Birds, falling icicles, etc. If one of these characters touch Popo or Nana, then they lose a life. You can use your mallet to kill or knockout these enemies. After you reach the top of the mountain, you have the chance to play the bonus round. After you beat each level, your points are added up. You gain points by breaking blocks, killing enemies, and collecting vegetables.

There are a total of 32 levels. You have the option of playing any level at any time you want. Although this does make the game less challenging. You also have the option of playing with two players, which is much more enjoyable then one player. I give the gameplay a 9.

Should I download this game?

Yes! This game only costs 500 Wii points and its worth a download and playthrough. I suggest that when you play the game, try to use the Classic Controller or Remote.
