WarioWare: Smooth Moves
Review by juicecentral
"A Magnificent Collection of Micro Games"
Warioware Smooth Moves isn't really a game; it's more just a set of tiny little games thrown at you at the speed of sound. You get little direction in each one and have just a matter of seconds to figure out the puzzle. As you go from one to another you get a point for each one and eventually have to complete a boss stage which is more a mini game than a micro game. You go through about twelve different worlds like this using the form baton to complete the games. You will have to hold it in all sorts of strange positions to accomplish these micro games.
The gameplay is hard to rate because there are so many different ways you use the controller. But the forms are basic and if you've played some other games you've done many of them before. It uses the Wii Mote nicely as you do things from hula hoop to can shooting but you only have a few seconds to realise what you need to do. None of the games or positions should really feel all that strange. As you go from one position to another however you do get time to relax. Just not much. Each character as there own little story but it doesn't really fit together in anyway and everyone of them seems some what separate from the rest. It doesn't come together so don't be ready for everything to be explained.
Graphics in this game aren't really good. It's mainly a cartoony sort of game and the graphics show. There is the occasional mini game with some quality graphics but not many. Of course graphics aren't a huge concern of this game. If you look at the sound it is pretty good but similar to the Legend of Zelda there is no voice acting. You find yourself reading from scroll bubbles the whole time. So while the sound and graphics are lacking this is probably one of the most fun games for the Wii. You will get a strange enjoyment out of hitting a fly or keeping the beat.
The multiplayer feature in this game is great for parties. You use only a single controller and can play with up to twelve Miis at once. You pass it around as it comes to someone else. Most of them are a you lose and you die sort of thing that can be a little annoying but all and all you will have fun watching everyone else do idiotic movements to try and stay alive. On the downside you have to unlock the multiplayer mode. But with seven different types you should have plenty of fun.
200 micro games equals plenty of fun to be had and plenty of replay value. Whether you are trying to break that record or just want to play darts with a friend you should spend a while playing through the game. Plus with four super hard modes you can get after beating the game there is tons of replay value in thus one. And the already mentioned multiplayer should keep you entertained for a while.
So what's the final verdict? You should get this game as it fully utilises the Wii Mote and eventually the Nunchuk. If you don't like the idea of just a bunch of pointless games being thrown at you than don't bother but whether you buy or don't you should at the very least rent it because it is a great game. The best in the Warioware series so far and is definitely worth a try.
Final Score- 8.3
