"A great game!"
Introduction: I have never played Bonk's Adventure before in any kind shape or form. But, I heard pretty positive reviews about the game, so when it came to the Wii VC, I just had to get it. I had my doubts if it would be Mario quality, but once I got it; I was amazed.
Gameplay: Bonk has some platforming in it, but lots of it is head-butting your foes with your one weapon; your head. That's right, you must use your head to "bonk" enemies. You can do bonk opponents on the ground, as well as in the air. You can pick up meat to power-up, similar to mushrooms and stars in the Mario universe. It might take a while to get used to, but once you play it for a it it's easy. The game I would say is mediocre difficulty. It's nothing too hard, but it can be a bit frustrating at times. Though the game is really fun to just pick up and play a level or two.
Story: Okay, the story isn't great. But I don't know of many 2D platformers that have a good story. Really all he story is you're some caveman who sets out to save a princess.
Sound: The sound is fitting, headbutting has a nice cartoony sound. The music is pretty nice and catchy. I personally don't have any complaints here.
Graphics: They aren't the best ever, but for an old system, they're pretty good. They're smooth, and I've yet to experience any slowdown. The enemies are all pretty different, you won't be getting them confused.
The bosses themselves seem kind of boring without much detail, but that's just my opinion.
Replayability: I think this is the kind of game that once you beat, you'll want to play it all over again! The game might get old after a few playthroughs though. But still, I think replayability is good.
Overall: I definitely suggest Bonk's Adventure. Over in the US it's only $6.00. And for six dollars, I think it's awesome. I very highly suggest picking this game up. Even if you don't like it much, six dollars ain't a ton of money. Be glad you would've wasted six dollars on it rather than fifty.
Though I don't think you'll regret this amazing purchase.
