The Godfather: Blackhand Edition

Review by Tombstone17

"Welcome to the Family, Capiche!!!!!"

"Welcome to the Family"

EA have definitely made a successful transmission leap from film to video game will this brilliant Nintendo Wii Version of The Godfather: Black Hand Edition.

Graphics:
EA decided to just port over the graphics from the Xbox Original Version and it shows. The character animation is beautifully brilliant. However, while the buildings, bridges and vehicles look spectacular, the other ground looks bland due to the quick texturing but still looks colourful and nice.

Score out of 10: 8

Sound:
The sound is beautiful and crisp in Dolby Pro Logic II. The music can go from sweet and humble to dark and dangerous in an instant. It is sharp and strong though out the game. The voice acting is precise and brilliant, with each character sounding like the actors. The firing from the gun sounds true and sweet, with each gun having its own wonderful noise.

Score out of 10: 8.5

Controls:
EA have really thought hard on how to utilise the potential of the motion-capabilities of the Wii-Remote and Nunchuk. After all the hard thinking they produced a truly amazing gameplay experience. When it comes to hand-to-hand fighting you use the Wii-Remote and Nunchuk and if you were actually fighting. Swinging both towards you will cause the character to punch his enemy to a pulp. With over 25 motion-involved actions to use, you will find yourself having the time of your life just beating you enemy to death. With fire arms, EA utilised the Infrared pointer to aim and using the 'B' trigger button to fire the gun. It is smooth and never feels glitchy or sluggish.

Score out of 10: 9

Gameplay:
Just like any 'SandBox', you walk/drive around to each mission. You make money from the missions and with the new RPG character development system you can improve your stats of your character. While there are missions to do, you can decide to postpone those missions to go around the city working for the Corleone Family by buying out business to make money and earn respect. One of your main goals is to earn enough respect to be climb the promotion ladder and become the 'Don' of the Corleone Family.

Score out of 10: 9

Overall Comment:
This game has it all; Action, great story, beautiful music, brilliant graphics and more. It even has extra that need to be unlocked which are video clips from the film and more.

I highly recommend this game and at £40 that is a steal.
