Wii Play
Review by Nintendo_Sabres
"BIG Mistake"
This game disappointed me very much. I thought I was going to get a good deal by buying a decent game with a Wii Remote. Instead, I wasted my money. After playing this game for about twenty minutes, you instantly become bored.
Basically, Wii Play is supposed to be based from Wii Sports, allowing you to play 9 minigames with your miis (up to two people can play). The games include the following:
Shooting Range: Basically shoot the targets that pop up by pressing A or B on your Wii Remote. Good aim practice. Don't hit the mii targets, though!
Find Mii: Pick the miis in the crowd that they tell you to find. I find this game difficult, though.
Ping Pong: Press A to serve the ball. The computer will constantly send the ball back to you, simply testing your skills to return the ball.
Pose Mii: Twist the mii and change the mii's shape to pop the bubbles. Make sure that they don't land on the "lines" because three strikes and you're out!
Laser Hockey: Just like air hockey, but with laser colors. Shake remote to hit the puck and twist the remote to change the angle. Score as many points as you can.
Billiards or 9-ball pool: Try to get the balls into the holes with the least amount of shots by hitting the required ball first. Point and aim where you want the stick to go and hold B, swing back, and release. Not as fun as you might think, though.
Fishing: A rather kiddie pool. Place the wii remote in the water and drag back to haul in the fish. You can get bonus pts. by grabbing out the fish they tell you to.
Charge: Run over the scarecrows and reach the finish line before time runs out! Tilt the remote forward to speed up and tilt it backward to slow down. Swing the Wii Remote up to jump over obstacles.
Tanks: Probably the most complicated game here. Move with the nunchuck or the D-Pad and aim with the wiimote to shoot.
Graphics: 6/10
The graphics are fairly simple, but since this is a "mii" game, it's considered good enough, for me, that is.
Controls: 7/10
The controls can be a bit sensitive in billiards, fishing, and table tennis, but they do their job. The only reason that I would rank these controls so high is because the shooting game can actually help your aim and can also prepare you for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.
Gameplay: 5/10
The gameplay is very, very boring. In billiards, the game doesn't even take any skill, just drag the remote as far back as possible and watch the balls fly. There are many other games, but I can't remember them right away.
Replay Value: 4/10
Even though these games are minigames, I guarantee you will get bored in a matter of hours. This is basically all that is necessary to say.
Overall: 4/10
This game was not very good and the only reason that you should buy it is because of the "free" or extra remote included. Some people actually like this game, so don't believe everything I say if you like short, simple games. Instead of buying this, I strongly recommend buying Zelda, Paper Mario, or Mario Party 8.
Thank you for reading my review.
