Contra III: The Alien Wars

"If this game were any more manly, I'd be scared."

Contra III: The Alien Wars is a frantic side scrolling shooter game originally released for the SNES, it is called "Super Probotector: Alien Rebels" in some countries, and the people are replaced with robots, don't ask me why...

GRAPHICS: 7/10

Ok, so graphics don't really matter too much in a game, but I might as well put them anyway. It is very nice looking for a SNES game, the bosses and enemies look mean and scary. Not excellent, but good enough.

GAME PLAY: 10/10

This is the best bit about the game, its very simple, you just run along shooting the hell out of anything you some across. The are enemies coming from each side of the screen and from the sky, you have to jump lava pits and destroy huge bosses. On the third level you have to climb along ropes high up in the sky, dodging evil flying bird things, then, a huge boss starts spinning round and firing things at you, next thing you know, you have to climb a huge wall and try to avoid it's big spiky legs and rockets that home in on you. On the 4th level you ride on a motor bike shooting the hell out of little enemies on motorbikes who are trying to kill you, then you hop onto a helicopter and do battle with a man with stretchy arms who will knock you off if you have a chance. Then, a army of missiles blows up you helicopter, so you grab onto the missiles and shoot some more enemies. Hardcore stuff.

DIFFICULTY: 11/10
This game is tough. Very tough. Only skilled gamers will complete it on easy mode, let alone normal and hard mode. And let me tell you now, hard mode is HARD. Its a real problem getting past the first level, and Ive never got past the second. You will die many times, many many times, and you WILL throw your remote in anger at least once, I promise.

SOUND: 7/10
Pretty good, your average SNES music, nothing much to say really.

OVERALL: 10/10
A very fun and highly underrated game, now on the wii! Hooray! Better than super Mario or any of that rubbish...bah
