Driver: Parallel Lines
Review by Gameoz
"Driver Done Right"
After a few delays, Driver:Parallel Lines finally makes an appearance on the Wii. However, it looks like there aren't many people waiting to play it.
Graphics-8
Very Clean, with nice touches throughout the city. Huge city to drive around and the detail is great. Cut scenes are very nice and I was surprised at the quality.
Play-
Driving-9
It may take a while to get use to the acceleration and brake being on the nunchuck but it works fine. The only complaint I have is that the hand brake is activated when you turn the nunchuck to the left or right. This can cause a problem if you have a lazy left hand. Driving is spot on and the control is top notch. Great sense of speed and a nice variety of cars makes the play score what it is.
Foot Missions-7
The control is fine for the foot missions but this is a much better driving game than an action game. The wiimote works as the camera and does a good job. It doesn't feel clunky but it is just not as polished as the driving missions.
Sound-9
I like the 70's Music and the sound effects in this game fit the theme. Voice acting is top notch and the story is funny. Lots of foul language, so if you are offended easily, you may want to pass on this game.
Replay-9
There are a bunch of missions as well as collecting 50 stars. You can free roam when ever you want, so you can really spend as much time with this game as you want. There is no multi-player or online but I don't think that was expected. The game keeps track of stats, which are always nice to look at.
Buy or Rent-If you like driving action games, it is a buy. If you feel burned from the previous Driver games, I suggest a rental first. I will say that I think this is the best Driver game in the series. While I would have liked to see more control options, the way it is set up actually works perfectly.
I like Driver:Parallel Lines better than any of the previous Driver games. With The Godfather and Scarface already released on the Wii, Driver PL may just get missed. The driving in Driver PL is better than in the other two games mentioned and the foot missions are on par.
