"Lack of content really hurts this game"

Big Brain Academy is based on the hit DS series. It's a series of mini quiz like games that make you fine tune your brain. How does the title hold up on the Wii? Is it as amusing or is it highly flawed? Read on!

Graphic wise the game is kind of bland. Quick flashes and brief color really doesn't matter much. Yes, it's cool that the game uses those things to tease your brain and make it think and while they are important aspects to the game, it still is rather bland on the eyes.

Sound in the game doesn't really exist I guess. I don't remember any... Sound effects were basic though and again didn't do much to the overall experience in the game.

Control in the game is very simple and responsive. I never once turned blame to the control setup which is a major plus these days with these Wii games.

The game tests your brain. By focusing on 5 areas of thought processing it figures out the weight of your brain and gives it a score. The average brain I believe is around 1k however it tells you what the average for the first time is as well.

It's a cool idea really. Tease your brain with simple problems. The game gives you more puzzles and makes them harder the more you play it. This means your score should most likely become larger due to this. So it isn't really fair to say it doesn't help you along the path of being a Mr. or Mrs. know it all.

The puzzles range from identifying items, picking out correct items in a group, following a hidden item, figuring out what a zoomed in picture may be. Knowing what is or isn't a mammal or whatever in a set of four pictures. It's all rather amusing.

The problem is that the little brain teases get repetitive very quickly and while it does help to keep your brain fresh, there isn't enough so that you're doing just that puzzle once per round, instead it's 2 or 3 times a round which makes it feel even more tedious.

The game takes only a few minutes to complete. It's great for the idea of a portable game like it was originally released as. As a home console game it doesn't offer anything else to do. Yes you can upload or scores and stuff but that doesn't really matter in the end if you haven't spent the money to get the attachment to go on-line with your Wii.

Big Brain Academy is a good idea. It's fun and makes you feel smart. The problem is that the game doesn't offer enough to make it worth while. This would have worked better as a free title with the console or some attachment. There just isn't enough content to make this game worth while.
