Mario Strikers Charged
Review by Nintendo_Sabres
"Nintendo Scores Another Golden Goal"
Mario Strikers Charged is a great soccer (football for europeans, no disrespect) game that has just arrived on the Wii. All of your Mario favorites fight it out to win the Strikers Cup and to compete with friends. It is a great game with features such as tournaments, quick games, and most importantly: the second online game for the wii to Pokemon Battle Revolution, which was rather an extension. As for the characters, they are Mario, Luigi, Daisy, Peach, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Wario, Waluigi, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Diddy Kong, and Petey Piranha as captains. As for sidekicks, they are Toad, Hammer Bros., Dry Bones, Birdo, Boo, Monty Mole, Koopa, and Shy Guy. As a satisfied customer with this game, I will go in depth with explanations of gameplay, graphics, replay value, and more.
Controls:8/10
The controls are very simple to learn because they can give you a tutorial on how to play. It can be a bit difficult to master the techniques, but the controls fit just fine with the wii. There are no special wii controls in this game except for a pointer as the menu, shaking the remote to tackle, and using the remote as a pointer to stop megastrikes. Regardless, the controls are still good and you can feel comfortable playing with them.
Graphics:9/10
The graphics are as good as a Nintendo game can get. They are crisp clear and smooth, unlike the Gamecube version. You probably won't pay attention to the game's graphics, because the only time you can look at the game's best is the clips before a game, the megastrikes, and after a character scores a goal.
Gameplay: 10/10
The gameplay is very good. There are different modes including Domination Mode, a quick game in where you can choose an opponent's level and how long a series should go and how long the game is. Another interesting, yet difficult game mode is Road to the Striker Cup. The first cup is fairly easy, the second one tests your grit, and the third one sees if you're worthy enough to hoist the cup. Then, there is Challenge mode and Strikers 101. Challenge mode puts you under certain circumstances in where you like to come back and win. For example, you need to win a game when down 5-0. It's a bit challenging. In strikers 101, they teach you the basic controls of the game. I would recommend everyone to start here. In conclusion, the gameplay is very addicting and is hard to put down.
Online Gameplay: 8.5/10
Online gameplay is just like domination mode, except for the fact that you are up against people you don't know. The only problem is that many people disconnect when they are losing and some people "spam" with certain characters, which allow them to score easy goals. Therefore, it can be difficult to find a fair game in which people don't disconnect or cheat. This isn't Nintendo's fault, but there should be strict rules about playing online.
Replay Value: 9.5/10
This game is a game that doesn't have a story and has a lot of sports action in it (like Madden). You can play this game over and over by yourself or with people online and you can rarely ever get bored.
Overall: 9/10
This is a great game to add to your gaming shelf if you have a Wii and is ranked among the elite games for the wii including Zelda:TP, Super Smash Bros., Resident Evil 4, Paper Mario, MP3: Corruption, Super Mario Galaxy, and many, many more to come. You won't regret buying this game.
Thank you for spending time to read my FAQ. Enjoy the game.
