Boogie

Review by Alasse

"Boogie your heart out!"

This is the first game since the Dance Dance Revolution series that actually get players up and moving, and it offers more than that with its included microphone for the karaoke portion. It's easy to pick up, easy to do, and most of all, it's fun to play. Here's my breakdown on the game.

Sound: 8/10

It's got the classic songs people remember from the 70's and 80's era, while tossing in a few songs from the modern age. True, they are not done by the original artists themselves like with Guitar Hero 3 coming up, but it's still sounds good nonetheless. If only they had more songs...perhaps a sequel is in order?

Graphics: 8/10

So maybe the graphics aren't top-notch like Zelda, but at least it captures the natural movement of the dancer/character on screen. The places catch the eye. Good enough in my book.

Characters: 9/10

Five generic characters to start off, many ways to customize. Hair color and style, clothes, accessories...it's perfect for putting Bubba into a John travolta-like setting and do a 70's song right off the bat. More stuff is unlocked when you win dances and buy more things.

Gameplay: 10/10

Gameplay's pretty simple: Wave the Wii remote to make your character dance to the beat, and use the Nunchuk to do lip-synch and to take a shot. You also wave the Wii remote while holding down the B button to do super moves, which add up to a lot of points, if you follow the directions correctly. It's not just staying in one spot either; you have to move around with either the control pad or control stick to gather what goodies the helpers pop up, and the A button shifts what dance style your char does.

Final Recommendation

Overall, I would say that this is a good game for the single person or even a group of people. It's close to the same lines as Mario Party,a perfect get-together game for anyone. True, the karaoke is only for one person, but people can take turns doing a song of their choice. Besides, who wouldn't want to sing "Walking on Sunshine" with no one around? Give this game a chance; you won't regret it.
