MySims
Review by MAX PAIN
"Don't let the looks fool you..."
First, at the risk of sounding "girly", I have to say, this is one of the cutest games I've ever seen or played. From the happy sounds the characters make, to the motions and the village. Everything is done as cutely as possible. It's a refreshing break from having to manage stats, and is an even better break from other games.
Game play: 9/10 Much of the Wii's motion control is not used, The controller is used like a mouse. However, this does not take away anything from the game. The building mode can be a little tricky at times, but is still very well. At first, I thought that I could only build inside the blueprints, and I started thinking that it would get old fast, not true. After the first or second time in the workshop, you are actually encouraged to build outside the blueprints. Not only that, but some of the tasks require it. Either way, I've never had this much fun building chairs or sinks.
Music: 10/10 Some of the happiest sounding music I have ever heard. Neither Katamari or Viva Pinata's intro song are anywhere near as happy as some of the music I've heard come out of this game.
Sound Effects: 10/10 I've never heard happier sound effects or stranger sound effects either. There are no voices really, but the characters make different gibberish sounds, depending on if they are happy, sad, angry, fighting, or any of the other things Sims feel.
Storyline: 7/10 A town is falling apart and you need to rebuild. Pretty generic...
Graphics: 10/10 MySims is incredibly vibrant and colorful. The characters look a lot like legos pieces, but are incredibly fluid in their movements and seem filled with happy thoughts. Occasionally large haired characters will have part of their hair through a wall, but, thats a small price to pay for such a bright happy looking game.
Replayability: 10/10 I don't think anyone will get tired of this game anytime soon.
Summary: The is an incredibly new take on the Sims series and is a complete success. It's great to no worry about stats and to be able to do whatever whenever. Also, it's great to have a game that gives off such a general feel of carefree-ness. I recommend anyone with a Wii get this. It's a bit childlike, but it also sucks you in and makes even the rainiest days seem good.
Total: 9/10
