Battalion Wars 2

"A Great Sequel to a Great Gamecube Game With Online Play!"
Battalion Wars 2 is perhaps my favorite sequel for a RTS ever. They kept what was good about the first Battalion Wars and added new features to enhance the replay value. Everything about this game is next to perfect and the translation to the Wii couldn't be better. I hope you enjoy this review to a stunning Wii game.
Graphics: 9/10 - The graphics in this game are some of the best graphics I have seen on the Wii yet. Great water effects when your naval units are moving through the water and next to unparalleled explosion effects add to the intense "mini wars" you will have countless times in this games. The buildings and scenery are amazing to look at, even up close when you're hiding in trees or behind a house waiting for the perfect time to strike. The folks at Kuji have made it so every nation has different skins for their units which adds to the variety.
Sound: 10/10 - One minute your marching down a desolate road hearing explosions in the distance and the next their are vehicles on fire, explosions ringing in your ears and bullets whizzing by your face. The sound in this game makes it really feel like your part of the battlefield and the music just adds to that amazing effect (I LOVE THE TUNDRAN THEME!!!). This game just begs for huge speakers.
Story: 9/10 - The story in this game seems like it was taken from the worldwide headlines out of our modern day world. All 5 nations (one of them was destroyed long ago so their should be 6 in total) are fighting over a super weapon that could destroy all nations except for the ones controlling it. Alliances are made and broken and the last mission is an epic and memorable battle of the titans. Great material for a great story.
Gameplay: 10/10 - Now here is the bread and butter of this game. This game plays like a PC RTS in so many ways, but is completely different in other ways. For example, you are controlling a small army or battalion to fight against other small battalions but the trick is you are one of the solders on the battlefield. So what ends up happening is you have to juggle controlling and directing your units in strategic ways while shooting anything that moves. It never gets clunky or repetitive but becomes very difficult. This is a very rewarding game and you feel good inside when you just won a big battle with no casualties.
Online: 9/10 - The online mode in this game is very well made for a game that used to be single player only. Their are 3 game modes, Skirmish, Assault, and Co-Op. They all play very well with minimum lag unless you are playing with someone across the world. Their are not many cheaters on this game and it is fairly active.
Replay Value: 9/10 - The online brings you back for more and their is some art and unit dossiers to unlock when you get higher ranks in the campaign. Overall, this game will keep you busy for a while.
Overall: 9/10 - Overall, this game is a near perfect RTS game for the Wii that everyone should own unless you don't like strategy. It improves on almost every flaw the original had and gives us more replay value with multiplayer! Well done Kuji! Well done Nintendo!
