Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors

Review by zap_dragon2

"A First Person Sword Fighting Game... On the Wii!"

Well, your the speechless hero once again. You are the son of a hero that saved his village. Your father is actually alive for once in the game. You meet up with 2 more "allies" that don't really do much other then cast spells, and yet... They all have healing spells.

Graphics: 9/10
Well, as far as graphics go, its what you'd really expect from this sort of "anime" art style. It was flawless in my opinion, there are nice effects for water and such. The slimes jump and you can see slime when they do. (Example: Flubber? Lol) As like the other Dragon Quest games, there's usually one girl "developed" and this game is no exception. The Master Stroke sequences are really cool... But once you keep doing them, they get a little boring to look at. There are many of them at least :). But overall, the world is beautifully made, and props to the developers.

Controls: 8/10
It is true that using only the wii remote is a little tough to move with in town... Until you get used to it at least. The slashing and stabbing is awesome... The ability to do which you want at the time...Is not. It is true that it is hard to do the diagonal slash when you want to.
Moving on the field kinda feels like a rail-shooter as in... You hold B and the up arrow to run forward... Just the arrow up to walk... Still a beautiful environment nonetheless.

Sound: 10/10
Oh my gosh... The music in this game is so soothing... You'll be going on a walk and the music is amazing. Just everything about it feels right. The attacks that you block sound cool to boot! Great job on the composers part!

Gameplay: 9/10
Wow...Just wow. The biggest part of this game. It is amazing. You get to run around, make new swords, buy items, all the usual stuff in an RPG game. But this time, its almost like the Oblivion for wii in a sense. Your in first-person view, although you don't see your sword(It would be in the way because your swarmed by enemies sometimes) and its just amazing how the wii remote can do this. You can hold your shield up to block attacks(it helps you out with blocking, with circles, red means block, blue means you can slash it and it'll return at the enemy if it hits them.) and if you wanna do cooler stuff, you can actually rotate your shield!! Great Gameplay for a great game!

Now, I bet your wondering, how is the story? Well... I'd tell you more, but I don't really wanna spoil it for you out there who are thinking of buying/renting this game.

Buy/Rent: I'd say do either, as long as you get to play this wonderful game!

Thanks for reading my "quick" review, now I'm gonna go play Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors some more!
