Need for Speed ProStreet
Review by apeXi_303
"So many ways to make this better."
Need for Speed ProStreet has what previous games in the series didn't have, but now previous games in the series have what this game doesn't. This new approach for Need for Speed wasn't its best idea. If only they didn't lose the free roam and police pursuits.
Plot - 7 out of 10
Racing games never really needed a plot but that's what makes Need for Speed special. In this particular game, you take on the role of Ryan Cooper, a former street racer that changed his life to legal racing. His street racing experience brings him to the top and he becomes the big shot. It's a fine story but it's not much different from other games. Start from scratch and claw your way to the top.
Graphics - 9 out of 10
Obvious improvement over the years. What can I say? Everything from scratches on the car to everything moving around you is awesome. Game makers didn't treat this game like garbage. They worked on all the little details that would normally be obvious. I must admit, however, that the Xbox 360 and PS3 have better graphics.
Soundtrack - 5 out of 10
This game doesn't impress me with its soundtrack. What I really hate is that I'm hearing the same five or six songs being played over and over again and I've barely touched the playlist. There's a few good songs but I guess it all depends on your taste of music. It's got small techno beats to hip hop and rock. Again, an improved soundtrack wouldn't be a bad idea for this game.
Gameplay - 10 out of 10
Now here's what I really like about the Wii version of this game. You can only use the Wii remote and you have to turn it sideways so both ends point left and right. In normal races, you have to tilt each end up, like turning an actual steering wheel. This game would present a value to the Wii remote steering wheel attachment. (I don't know its actual name) I like the controls for this game very much, however, it doesn't always sense your motion when you're turning it.
Quick summary
This game has an ancient plot, amazing graphics, unimpressive soundtrack, and an impeccable gameplay. I would suggest renting it for a while, and then decide if it fits your taste before purchasing it. It was a disappointment for me at first, but it was easy to get used to, and even easier to begin enjoying it.
