"The best game on Wii."

I've been interested in this game since way before it's PS2 release. I was mere moments away from buying a PS2 for just this game.. that is until I hear it was coming to Wii. Let me tell you, the wait was well worth it.

[Feel free to read the review, but before I go on I must say.. BUY THIS GAME! More importantly, buy it & register it at Capcom. This game deserves a sequel, for it is far better than any of the Zelda games of the last decade.

Game-play: Heavily inspired by the Zelda series, Okami will probably feel fairly familiar. Movement is controlled with the nunchuck, attacks & god powers are controlled various ways via the Wiimote. Drawing plays a significant part in Okami. The celestial brush utilizes many different techniques to aid you in battle and exploration. The symbols are easy enough to draw to make things happen. Some puzzles may take a few tries. At certain times you will have to draw things exactly right.. which can be easier said than done. Timing is a key element for success for attacks and certain brush techniques. Those minor inconveniences, and a shoddy {but optional) nunchuck wagle-dodge aside, Okami's controls are solid.

Story: Okami is heavily submersed in Japanese mythology and fairy tales, making for one of the best stories I've come across in gaming. You play as Ameterasu, the sun goddess. Awaken from a 100 year slumber, you must save the land from the coming darkness of an old foe.

Graphics & Sound: Okami's art style is wonderful. Everything is cel shaded to make it look like a Japanese wood cut/painting. It's refreshing to see a game go for art, opposed to realism. The soundtrack is also top notch. NCPs miscommunicate exactly like those in the Zelda series: text boxes and garbelmesh noises for voices. [< Not a complaint]

Replay Value: Most stats transfer on a second play through & there's so many things to see and do. Lots of side quests & collectibles. You'll be busy with this one for a while.

Final Verdict: B-U-Y IT NOW! Don't even think about renting it, it's that good. If you liked any Zelda game or are way into all things Japanese, this game is for you. Even if you have the PS2 version already, this is infinitely better on the Wii. Heck, Capcom is even offering new and alternative box art! What's not to like?
