My Pokemon Ranch
Review by Zipoop
"Cute graphics, Cute idea, But cuteness doesn't make up for the lack of gameplay."
Story: 4/10
There really isn't a story, just when you start the game some random girl named Hayley starts blabbing about how she wants to start a ranch full of pokemon and stuff, and then you start your own ranch filled with Pokemon and Mii's, there really is no story here, and I don't think there is supposed to be one really, so I won't let this effect the review as much as the other categories.
Graphics: 8/10
The graphics in this game are very nice, and well, cute. Almost everything in this game is meant to look cute. The pokemon, the Mii's, even the cursor. Everything looks really nice, I'd say the graphics are perfect except for the fact that Nintendo went to far with making everything look cute, it got to the point where some of the pokemon looked stupid and not like what they are supposed to look like from the anime and the other games.
Music/Sounds: 5/10
Starting with the Music, it's basically the same throughout the whole game, nothing too bad, but nothing great either, just some average elevator music which gets repetetive and annoying after listening to it for more than 10 minutes, this music changes depending on if its sunset/nightime/or daytime, but it's still boring old elevator music. If you're not listening to that annoying music, then your listening to some other weird tune when the pokemon or Mii's do some random events for a minute or so.
The sounds, ugh, the sounds are SO ANNOYING. The pokemon just make the same noises over and over again, similair to the ones they make in Pokemon Diamond/Ruby. These get really annoying after awhile, sometime I wind up just muting my TV and turning on my ipod to replace the annoying music and sound effects.
Gameplay: 5/10 (If you don't have a DS with Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, then thats going to take a LOT out of the game play, if you don't have Diamond/Pearl, bring this down to a 2/10.)
You really don't get to do much, you just watch your Mii's and Pokemon walk around, attacking each other at completely random times, doing some random events at completely random times, and watching them play with toys whenever they want to. The only thing you really get to do is pick up pokemon and Mii's and throw them around the Ranch and send pokemon from your DS to the ranch. If you don't have a DS, then it will make the game COMPLETELY dull and boring. The gameplay does have some fun in it, it's fun trying to track down the pokemon that are wanted on your DS then bringing them back to the Ranch, basically the main point of this is to give you somewhat of a collection of pokemon, and a challenge for your Diamond or Pearl game.
Controls: 10/10
This games controls are very simple, you move the wiimote to move your cursor, and press the A button to select whatever your cursor is on, or press A+B at the same time to grab a Mii or Pokemon.
Replay: 8/10
Even though the gameplay is absolutely horrible, if you can find yourself enjoying this game from time to time, then you'll be playing it for a LONG time. There are loads of different pokemon to collect due to the fact that you can have up to 1,000 pokemon in your ranch, even though you'll probably never get that amount. Theres loads of toys to collect aswell, and your pokemon will always be up to different things, so you'll want to check up on them from time to time, but as I said, the lack of gameplay destroys this game.
Overall: 6/10
The game may have very cute graphics and nice backrounds and lots of different unlockables and collectables, but that doesn't make up for the broken gameplay and very limited amount of things to do. This game may be a cute time waster, but it's definently something I wouldn't recommend. It's sort of like a home aquarium, you make sure none of your fish died overnight, then you feed them, then your done until tommorow. Simple and boring as that.
