Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors

Review by ChromeHorizon

"READ: This is an ACTION GAME NOT AN RPG"

ChromeKnight-Those who forget don't deserve to remember.

Starting out: 7/10

The menu doesn't really exist. Just select your file and go. It has a simple point click menu interface that displays everything in an obvious fashion. Just the way I like it.

Length: 6/10

This game is about 7hrs. and 50min. long. If you don't fight the secret bosses. It's basically an action game with a slightly interesting story.

Story:5/10

The story itself is simple generic and all dried up. The queen is wearing the mask of a legendary monster and you meet several people who try to find out why. The levels are dry of communication except the sparse babbling of your A.I. buddy.

Controls: 10/10

The controls couldn't be better. You actually feel like you're wielding a sword and shield. You do run into some trouble moving in town. But the battle system is great in every way. Enemies vary from classic slime to dragons. Swinging the wiimote like an idiot has never been more fun. It is still best played sitting down.

Characters:7/10

Each character has their own background story and past. Making them enjoyable. But they are ripped away right when get to know them. and the game ends like a door slamming in your face.

Fluerette: The female protagonist. She has seen the mask before and wishes to rid herself of those horrible memories.

Analce: Que the butthole prince. He likes to stick out above the rest and is not afraid to ask for help, a lot.

Bosses: 10/10

These are what bosses should be. No glowing weakspot. No annoying minions. Just one on you and your buddy. Each boss is unique, hard and challenging. They all have different moves and fighting styles. Making sure you stay on your feet.

Enjoyment: 7/10

The enjoyment gets a 7 because of it's abrupt end. It happens suddenly and your left with an empty feeling. But the journey overpowers the destination. You feel like a classic japenese gamer. Leveling up and moving from dungeon to dungeon. This is a game fans of the series will love. While it lasts.

Multiplayer: There is no multiplayer or co-op. Get over it. They didn't need to add multiplayer if you ask me. It would have ruined the games story. Cute minigames aside. Multiplayer doesn't exist. If anything, it helped preserve the games natural and classic feel. Call me old. But you'd be off. So far off.

Final Verdict: A 40$ experience.
