Bleach: Shattered Blade
Review by Thunder_Storm64
">_O go buy the game!!!"
Bleach: Shattered Blade (Wii)
Overview:
So anyway, like most of my reviews, this one starts in a game shop. Game Traders to be exact. So I was browsing the shelves once again to find something to buy that would last me till the holidays when I saw this game on the shelves. I am a massive Bleach fan, so pretty much without evening thinking I grabbed this game and bought it, took it home and played it.
Story: 7/10
Ok. That's the story for you. It was Ok. It was a story that did not go with the series at all, but it was done well none the less. I assume that for some one who has never heard of Bleach, it works quite well, because they explained a lot of the important things and the stuff they made up quite well. I hate the story they made, which was something like everyone in Soul Society was fighting over the remaining shards of sword who's name I forget >.< Either way, I gave this points because they explain it well for people who may have never heard of Bleach before.
Controls: 8/10
This game is played with both the WiiMote and Nunchuck. The controls flow together quite well, and it's very easy to pick up, considering my little cousin who's like 5 or something can play fairly decently. To sum it up, attack = WiiMote, moving =Nunchuck. The only bad thing was that the WiiMote didn't pick up on the type of swing you made, which is either a vertical, horizontal or a stab, which does matter in the game. Otherwise the game has pretty good controls.
Music: 7/10
The music in the game was fairly decent. Nothing special, I mean its there but it's not that great. And it has nothing from the anime which is quite disappointing. I prefer listening to my iPod. The voice acting is fairly decent, but the limited range of things they can say gets very repetitive after a while.
Graphics: 7/10
The graphics in this game are nothing special. They could probably pass for a good Game Cube game. The special effects and attacks all look great but the characters themselves look quite poor, but it's acceptable none the less.
Gameplay: 9/10
The game is very fun to play, there are around 22 characters I think, and 2 of them are Espada, joy! The fights are all very fun, and the main reason I gave this such a high score is that each character is completely different in how they attack. They all fight in the same way that they would in the series, which is good to see. What I mean is that there's no Wolf, Fox & Falco as in Smash Bros Brawl. So that gets some points, plus it has a good selection of characters, including Urahara, Grimmjow, Ulquiorra & of course Ichigo. So yes, the game is very fun to play, despite the low other scores.
Summary:
Not worth buying if you're not a Bleach fan unless its cheap, worth buying for Bleach fans. The game is overall very fun to play, despite some flaws.
Positives:
+Characters available
+Special effects and the fights
+It's Bleach!
Negatives:
-Load times
-You can't skip cut scenes
-Hanataru's Story Mode (God I hate this, so hard
)
