"Okami- an overall great game..."

Okami is a great game. The few minor flaws it has just don't add up to how great the game really is. It was good for the PS2 and the re-make for the Wii is even better.

Gameplay: 9/10

Okami is one of those games that pulls you into it so far you feel as thou every movement, attack, or even death of a character just blows you away. Unfortunately, there are a few minor flaws in the game. For one thing the controls are a little basic. Shaking the Wii remote to use your weapon can be exciting.......... I guess. Instead of being able to slash down to attack with the glaives you have to time every motion wich can become frustrating and confusing. Also, the Celestrial Brush. Controlling it is hard enough without the Wii controls being so fidgeity. Some of the good things about the game is the interaction with nature around you. Things like feeding animals or reviving trees and even doing good deeds for people earn you some praise points wich you can use to upgrade your stats. Unfortunenately, the ink pots that store your Celestrial Ink never EVER seems to hold enough, especially when fighting bosses like Orochi or Ninetails. Another awful thing is the boss fight with Orochi. Fighting him three times throughout the game gets boring and not to mention the fact that it is always the same strategy to win. But on the bright side of things we get to see darkness defeated, Amaterasu become her god form (sort of), and we see a truly great storyline.

Graphics: 10/10

Okay, for a game like Okami, the graphics are riveting. Ready at Dawn drew the game in cel-shade. We have seen this in games like The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker. Set in a vast and colorful old world Japan, we see things like how it might have just well been set in the old world of Japan. I would like to note on the Celestrial Brush. While being fidgeity and lagging, it is probably one of the coolest features of the game. The 13 Brush Techniques give you the opprutunity to explore the land and restore its natural beauty around.

Music: 8/10

Why an 8 out of 10? because a lot of the music is repetitive. It plays over and over in more than one cutscene of the game. While the music does set the tone of the area were your at, it doesn't give you the full impact . Such as the Konahona Shuffle, although you restore the divine beauty of the village, it is a little strange to listen to us western inhabitants.

Boss Battles: 7/10

Okay I know what your thinking. A 7 out of 10 may seem crazy but it is fair. The first boss battle with the Spider Queen is easy....... a little too easy. Same with Orochi. You fight him three times in the game so it is natural to pick up the strategy. ALL of the boss fights are easy yet fun to fight when you have the chance to spam every single move in your arsenal.

Overall: 8/10

When you come right down to it, Okami is one of the greatest games for the Wii ever. The few things they could have fixed aren't really that big of a deal. Noting the fact that we can all love a game WE like isn't the biggest thing but spreading your horizons. I wanted to get Twilight Princess and when found out the store was out, I looked on the shelves to find Okami and I have never seen a better game with a wolf (xD).
