"New Features, New Setup, New Guitar Hero"

I'll start by saying that Guitar Hero: World Tour is a great game.

Being used to the old school set list to pick songs, I am a bit disappointed with the new set list setup. The game itself outside of the set list setup is great. The new features (tapping and holding notes while playing other notes) are great. I really do not have any complaints other than the new setup for the set list, which will probably grow on me but for the time being I will stay nostalgic. The songs in the game are great. I was glad to see bands like NOFX, Oasis, Van Halen, Sublime, Tool, System of a Down and Dinosaur Jr. which are new in the Guitar Hero world.

DOWNLOADABLE CONTENT is actually available for Guitar Hero on the Wii!!! I was excited to hear about this but was also disappointed in the (amount of) selection. "No Rain" by Blind Melon was the first song I had downloaded, even before the free content. After coming to the realization of the Wii's system memory and SD card limitations I can actually appreciate what they started with for the DLC made available.

Activision has also brought back the boss battle feature in World Tour, but the catch it...there are no attacks in this game. All you have to do is keep up with the musicians and not let the bar move all the way to their side or you get booed off stage. I'm very happy to see that they brought back the battles but somewhat unsure of how I feel about the attacks being taken away. This was a really fun feature in the Legends of Rock and Aerosmith versions of the game before and was hoping that they would bring them back in World Tour.

The celebrity cameo's in this game are great! There are 2 singers, a drummer, bassist, and 2 guitarists (as far as I've seen) and was quite entertained to see their likenesses in the game. I do know for a fact that at least 4 of them are playable characters (not sure how many more, if any, since I haven't finished all of the sets as I have 3 more to go.) The playable characters are FREE in this game once you beat the battles and do the corresponding song with the musician due to the fact that even the store has changed immensely. I do have to say that the Grim Reaper has made no appearance in the game, thus far, which is kind of a let down since he has been with the series since day 1 up to GH:LoR (minus XB360 and PS3 for LoR.)

This is a definite buy for any Guitar Hero fan. The song creation in the game could use some work on Activision's behalf but still is quite fun to fool around with and learn to use. You can also customize your characters and instruments which is quite fun and new to the GH series. I'm glad to have bought this game and you will be too if you buy it. The songs are great, the new features are a nice breathe of fresh air and the game still stays true to what Guitar Hero is and was. My only complaint, again, is the new set list format. All in all I give Guitar Hero: World Tour a 9 out of 10.
