Call of Duty: World at War
Review by DrSage207
"Finally, Wii is getting more better games"
The Wii has had some gimmicky games while it's competitors had Halo and Fallout. However, Wii is getting back into the game in this adventurous first person shooter. With many ways of controlling the player, many weapons, and many missions to complete, this'll keep you busy.
Controls: 8/10
Controls are alright as far as the Wii goes. Nunchuk and Wii-remote that sort of thing. You can also use the Wii-Zapper in this game as well along with some other controls too. Try which one suits you best. My only beef about the controls are well... They can be unresponsive at times. Maybe it's the game, maybe it's the Wii-remote, but they can screw you over if you get attacked by a Banzai attacker.
Game play: 8/10
Again, different ways of playing with the Wii-remote and nunchuk, but there's more. You can up the difficulty after each adventure to add a little more challenge. You start out with each story in the U.S. or Soviet Union with a starter weapon. Sometimes it's lame and sometimes you can find a better weapon. Enemies get tougher and smarter too. SS don't die with one shot all the time, your shooting skills lack every so often because they don't always hit your target, and if you're not careful of those Banzai attackers, it may cost you your life. The game is hard the first time through, then, the missions become a piece of cake.
Graphics: 8/10
OK, graphics on the Wii I have no problem with and it's not a big issue as long as the game play is good, but sometimes, graphics seem weird. For example, sometimes an an ally will have a his gun ready, but he's holding no gun. He's just miming it. And this is one of those games where there are some CGI graphics and then it goes straight to bad graphics. I say it should be one or the other. Not both. Overall, graphics are OK as far as Wii goes.
Music/sound: 9/10
Sometimes there is music. And sometimes, there isn't music. If you're wondering around with no clue where to go, you may get bored and wish there was some music. Sounds are pretty good. Shooting sounds and such. Kind of makes you feel like you truly are in World War II
Story: 9/10
This game takes place during World War II. And I won't bore you to death with a history lesson on World War II. All I'm going to say is that you play as two different characters from two different countries and two different years. It's weird, but OK. What's a let down is that you play as an American fighter and a Soviet fighter. But no English fighter (America, USSR, and England are the Allies)? Kind of a let down. Not getting the whole story of World War II.
Overall review: 8/10
Online play, two player mode are good to play with when you beat the game (because the game is wicked short and probably rushed for the holidays). You can also increase the difficulty of your game for an extra challenge. It's a great game, rated M for mature, and it gets my approval. I recommend this game for new and old Call of Duty fans. Happy killing!
