Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli
Review by Pantheridiot
"Does Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli speak the truth or the lie?"
Ferraris are known for their horsepower & torque, Making them very fun to drive. Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli on the Nintendo Wii has arrived, but the question is this: Does it speak the truth or the lie?
The gameplay has Game Mode. Now what you'll notice is the game is not multiplayer, which is a very big flaw. There are six modes, Tutorial, Time Trial, Trophy, Challenge, Arcade, & Quick Race. Tutorial has you test your driving skills on a Ferrari. Time Trial let's you improve your driving skills by completing a lap. This process repeats until you choose to retire. Trophy is where you pick a car you bought & you race it against others who are driving the same Ferrari. Challenge is more like a NASCAR season. You use the F430 against others who are driving F430s in a series of races. Trophy, Challenge, & Arcade have one thing in common: A time limit goes on & once it goes off, once you cross the finish line, you do one more lap & you win. The problem included in this process is it's too unique that you'll get impatient. Quick Race is the more standard type of race. You compete for 3, 5, or 7 laps. You can do this with a 8 car race, half grid, or a showdown. This sounds more original than the others, making it more voted.
Showroom is where you buy a car & give it visual improvements. You can also sell cars but not the 3 pre-tuned F430. You can't give any other visual changes other than the body. Speaking of the body, you can't give it a spoiler, bumper, skirt, etc. Team is where you edit your team name & country flag. The team option has virtually no flaws. Accomplishments are where you view what you succeeded & not. Challenge Cards are where you bet cards you got from accomplishments. Options are where you edit your assists, sound, & of course, controls.
One of the problems you'll have with the turning is the drifting. If you even try drifting, you'll just skid off & you'll go out of bounds where you get the penalty of denied gas. This forces you to brake, turn, then accelerate, making the AI Difficult. The difficulty is very hard. The AI will get in pole position & you'll be bringing the rear.
The graphics are bad. The cars look blocky, & everything looks like a PS1 game. the soundtrack is acceptable, except the Menu music. It's a chorus of horror. If you never heard one, they're flawed. Plus almost everything is against you.
There are three control setups. The wiimote steering doesn't work at times. After you steer for a sustained period, it stops registering. This makes the Nunchunk combination work better.
Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli speaks both the truth & the lie. With so much against you, such as drifting, difficulty, controls, it's very difficult to both enjoy & win this game. It looks like anything Activision can do, Electronic Arts can do better. Those interested in the Ferraris can put on their Ferrari accesories & buy this game. To everyone else, Don't blow your patience, or your extra money, by playing this game.
