Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure
Review by tmnt89
"Ring that Bell!"
Zack and Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure is a great and unique wii adventure. It was released on October 23, 2007. It is filled with puzzles, excitement, point-and-click goodness and it is ery cleverly written. It does have its annoying times, but overall it is defiantly a wii-title to check out!
Story
The story line isn't any thing great, but it forms a pretty cool plot. You are Zack, who finds a golden monkey that can turn into a bell. The monkey's name is Wiki. You can use wiki to defeat enemies and solve puzzles. The main point of the story is to find all of the pieces of the legendary pirate, Barbaros. In the end he is supposed to give you a legendary pirate ship. The plot is great for a puzzle game.
Gameplay
The game is very fun to play. It can have its annoying times, but overall it plays out great. You point at the screen, and press A to make Zack go were you want him. Shake the wiimote to turn wiki into a bell. You can use wiki to turn enemies into items, which is a different twist on things. B Moves your camera. Little mini games (like rearranging puzzles and sword fighting) can get very annoying, do to the unresponsive wii sensor bar. You can buy "Oracle Dolls" which give you hits about the level. They normally aren't helpful, and they are really expensive.
Graphics
Many puzzle games do not have great graphics, but Zack and Wiki is an exception. This game has amazing graphics. The different enemies and areas were well thought out. Animations for different objects and items you find look great. There are some cutscenes which also look good. Overall, the graphics look wonderful.
Sound
Zack and Wiki has pretty great sound effects. Creepy music when enemies arrive, wonderful level sounds. Character voices sound funny, which is actually a good thing. The Music is never repetitive.
Replay Value
This game has loads of replay value. There is over 30 hours of gameplay, with hard puzzles to solve, and secret treasure items to collect. It is also fun to play through a second time.
Overall
This game is defiantly worth a buy. There are some minor flaws, which make it from getting a 10. It is really fun to play, and the puzzles are pretty hard. If you do not like challenging games, then rent it first.
