The Ayane in Ninja Gaiden Black is the same as the Ayane of the Dead Or Alive series.
Everything looks the same about the Ayane we know from Dead Or Alive and even Ryu *Master*
If you let yourself be killed the first 3 times in the normal mode youll get the chance to play Ninja Dog mode (an easy mode of some sort) where Ayane will play a bigger role providing you with more info and even give you Ribbons to boost your abillities.
Although they don't really share a story in the Dead Or Alive series I can tell you positive that the Ayane seen is the very same.
