Burnout Revenge

"Deserves a 7, but I really like it, so 9"

Burnout Revenge is a damn good game. It's currently my favorite Xbox games besides Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, which I actually have yet to finish before making a complete judgement. I haven't played the other Burnout games, but Xbox Magazine said it was the 2nd best Xbox game so I decided to see what it was about.. I liked it.

Graphics: The graphics are good. The cars look realistic, although most of them are ugly, and the backgrounds are good. However there seems to be a lot of things in the background. These things make me crash all of the time. Like when cars crash in front of you and as you go by you don't notice the cross traffic going by.

Sound: The sound fx never gets tiring, to me atleast. The music sucks. It's all punk rock nobody's heard of and techno that sounds familiar but really isn't. Good thing there's custom soundtracks so I can listen to Ridin Dirty or any of my music (not just rap btw) when I want to. Plus the music in the game doesn't exactly fit with the game. Some metal, hip hop, or polka could fix that.

Also note on sound, there's no music on splitscreen multiplayer or crash mode. It makes sense on Crash since you need concentration but splitscreen? A little bit. Maybe if one profile uses custom tracks and the other doesnt? idk. Im talking through my ass now.

Gameplay: Race: CAN be frustrating. I like the controls, the gameplay, everything. Except how you crash sometimes doesn't seem right. Sometimes I get a glitch where I end up under the map. Starting position seems like **** too. I lost many races online because starting so far behind my opponent. Road Rage and Traffic Attack are fun things to do to pass the time. I really get into them. Crashbreakers are cool, but don't always work. The online rating system's confusing to me. Somebody explain? Email me.

Gameplay: Crash: My friend's favorite part of the game. It's very well done. I don't like the wind though. Only flaw to me. It's good and challenging, but sometimes it feels like a ***** to do to beat the game.

Overall: Burnout Revenge is a damn good game but is flawed in minor areas. It deserves a 7 rating but being my first Burnout game and I'm very into it, and as a good alternative to Need Fr Speed or Gran Turismo, it gets a 9.

Rent or Buy?: Always rent first. Buy it at your own risk. I bought it and it was good to me, might not be for you.
