NBA 2K6

"The BEST basketball game of 2006"

So let me be straight up honest. I haven't played any other NBA 2k6 games. I have played NBA live 05 though. And to be completely honest I didn't like that game. It had an incredibly easy skill level even on Superstar and Hall of Fame difficulty but anyway what I'm trying to get at is the part I did like about the game. I liked the Dunk Challenge. I think that the 2K serious should think about putting that in because it's pretty challenging and fun. Now lets get down to business.

Game play-9
The game play is pretty smooth. I like this game because I win a lot haha but also have the chance to lose. I play on the hardest difficulty on this game "hall of fame difficulty” and it's harder then any live games I've played. I mean sure you can always mess with the sliders but just the smoothness of this game and the quality that was put into it really came out to me.

Controls-9
I love the new shot stick. I think it's awesome how you can choose what type of dunk or lay-up you want to make! In every other old basketball game you cant do that you do what the game was programmed to do in that situation dunk or lay-up. This game shows me how far sports video games have come.

Graphics-8
This game has great graphics. I put an 8 for the graphics because they are great but as you see on the Abox 360 they could be better. I know that it's a completely different system but I think there is still room for improvement.

Replay Value-6
This is the part that I HATE about this game. #1. The fact that the replay value STINKS. I mean sure the, "power bar instant replay." It's a cool new replay added but gets annoying if you play a lot! Even if you shut replays off then they still show the cut scenes and they get very annoying.

Sound-6.5
The sound on this game is O.K. That's it. It alright but still has A LOT of room for improvement. Also as you will read below is a section of the game that has got to improve no question.

Problems with the game,
There is one this that I absolutely hate about this game. The error when sometimes during the game they'll say, "The shot at the buzzer!" When it's not even close to the end of the quarter. Or very frequently when I go to the free throw line the announcer says, "He goes to the line for 1.” When really I have 2 shots. It just gets very annoying while you play.

Overall-9
I love this game just for THE GAME. It's fun and will keep you entertained. Of course I never play the game for more then 2 hours straight, which is more, then you actually should, get outside and do something! haha. But seriously I picked this game up used on ebay for $7. It was a great buy and if you could pay Free-$10 I would buy this game. I wouldn't pay more then $10 though because of the time. I wrote this review originally on July 25, 2006 and I just updated it so now NBA 2K7 is out. The date now is November 25, 2006. Though now 2K7 is out, it should be better then 2K6. I'm not saying that 2K6 isn't good but games get better, or at least should get better over time. Though bottom line if your a basketball fan and want a fun time playing 2 player with your friends or just by yourself against the computer, then get this game. It'll keep you entertained for hours on end. The 2K series is in my opinion the better of the series then NBA Live. If your a Live fan then don't take what I had to say about the game and play live. Though live just doesn't compare to this game. I have one more thing to say...GO PLAY THIS GAME Basketball fans!
