Counter-Strike

Well recently I purchased this game since it was backwards compatible for the Xbox 360. I'm glad to say Counter-Strike is emulated perfectly on Microsoft's powerful new machine. For the incredibly low price of only 6 dollars I bought this game from my local Gamestop and I'm so glad I did. First off the game had absolutely no scratches on it. I started playing single player and realized how how great of a game Counter-Strike really was. The bots in the multiplayer and single player are top notch and behave just like people would and in some rare cases perform even better than their human counter-parts. After I played the single player campaign I started up Xbox Live. I didn't expect too many people to be online since it was made in 2002 but to my surprise I found multiple games in a matter of seconds. Surprisingly Counter-Strike still has a large online community which helps automatically give this game an A in my book. While the graphics for Counter-Strike aren't the best in the world, it does have an advantage over 8/10 Xbox 360 games currently out and that is fun. I played this game for over two hours the first time I popped it in my Xbox 360 and thought I had only played for fifteen minutes. It's that addicting!! It looks like Valve (the creators of the Half-Life series) have made another instant classic for the Xbox.

Graphics-7/10
Despite the fact that Counter-Strike is very old the graphics aren't that bad. Looks better than some of the last batch of Xbox games to come out. The blood graphics are very poor though and kind of make you chuckle. However these things can easily be forgiven due to the fact that it's an awesome game. When you consider how old of a game Counter-Strike really is it's no surprise really why the weapons and soldiers don't sound all that great. However for an early Xbox game Counter-Strike looks top notch and has a surprising amount of detail in the characters and the surrounding environments. The weapons are probably the best graphically enhanced part of the game considering there is a considerable amount of details into the weapons making them that much cooler. The graphics for Counter-Strike are good in some areas but are very bad in others. While the guns look graphically good other things such as the blood effects that pop out when shooting enemies is so bad that it's actually hilarious.

Sound-6/10
Overall all of the weapons sound great. However the explosions could use a better sound, and they could have given the soldiers command statements a little more personality.

Gameplay-9/10
Can't complain about this. Counter-strike is one of the funnest FPS games to come out. You get three different game types; Rescue Hostages, Deathmatch, and Bomb run. In Hostage Rescue the Counter Terrorists have to save as many hostages as possible or eliminate the terrorist threat. Deathmatch is good old fashion mindless killing. Bomb Run is where terrorists and counter-terrorist go at it. The terrorists have to plant a bomb and the Counter-terrorist have to defuse it before it explodes. There are also different types of Counter Terrorists such as S.W.A.T., the U.S. Army, and the Green Beret. In multiplayer, players have the choice to either battle it out with only humans, or humans vs. bots. The bot A.I. in Counter-Strike is top notch and is smart enough to mimic people. So this game is worth getting even without Xbox Live!!

Conclusion
Counter-Strike is a fun, fantastic FPS. It has endless replay value and still has a very active online community. If your an FPS fan then do yourself a favor and spend 10 bucks and buy this terrific game. It has everything shooting fans love, such as awesome weapons, awesome terrorists and counter-terrorists player models, and of course an active online community, which is a very important thing! After playing this game for the first time this week I can easily see why this game is so popular and why it still has an active online community. With so many great qualities about it you'd be a sucker not to purchase Counter-Strike. So go out right now, spend 10 dollars and start playing one of the best FPS games to ever come out.
