Call of Duty 3
Review by DarkForceRising
"Call of Duty pushes out yet another good game."
Introduction:
Call of Duty is one of the most popular World War II games out there. It a great first-person shooter and a small history lesson.
Controls: 8/10
Everything is great here, but the grenade controls are hard to use. The icons are on the opposite sides than the directions you need to push to throw them.
Graphics: 10/10
Beautiful. What more can I say? Activision defiantly squeezed out all the stops to make this game look so good. Definitely one of the best looking game I have ever seen for the Xbox. Cutscenes look like movie scenes. The graphics put you in the feel of the game like nothing I have ever experienced. I actually turned around and to spit in my room!
Sound: 8/10
The voice acting in this game is extremely well synched. Actually, every sound in this game is well synched. The gunfire sounds like you are actually shooting at Nazis. Every gun in the game has its own unique sound. The only flaw in the sound is the fact that you have to look at the person who is talking to hear them. This can get annoying when you miss part of your mission, but you can always press back to see what you need to get done.
Gameplay: 8/10
I love the gameplay of this game. It may be annoying at times, because you will die, A LOT! But you will still always come back for more. Some parts are so fun you will find yourself playing for hours before you put down the controller. I also enjoyed the new bomb planting system. You have to press buttons and rotate thumb sticks this time around, instead of just pressing X. The new hand-battles with German solders are also great, and it does get you by surprise. I jump nearly every time I get thrown into a brawl with the enemy.
Story 6/10
A mediocre storyline, but what do you expect? No real story is needed for a game like this, but the one they crammed in does serve its purpose. The story isn't bad, but it is kind of jumpy as it goes from country to county. One thing I did find strange is the fact that most of the soldiers from France and Poland spoke English.
Overall: 8/10
I strongly recommend that you buy this game. It is fun, beautiful and sounds great. It is by far the best Call of Duty for the Xbox, PlayStation 2 or GameCube. This game will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time you are playing.
