"Lost Chapters for a Lost Cause"

Hello, and welcome to my review of Fable: The Lost Chapters.

First and foremost, this game is short. Very, very, very shot. Compared to games that are similiar to it (like Morrowind or Obvlion, which have some of the same characteristics of this game) tend to have around 50-100 hours of gameplay, while Fable has 10-15 hours at the most.

This game is also very easy. Seriously, with two or three good will powers (like Berserk and Dual Strike (I believe that's what it's called)) you can pretty much kill anything. The bosses are easy. The only challenging one was *insert spoiler alert here*. The enemies were bland msot of the time and lacked anything superior. The only enemies that are a little trouble are the golems (the first time you face them) and Summoners.

Also, this game seriously lacks story. It is a very dragged out story line. The first maybe hour or so has story, then the story seems to dissapear for a little bit, pop its head back in; rinse, lather, repeat. Also, the character development was weak. I felt no connection towards my Hero, the guildmaster, or Maze (etc.). The character models were bland and seemed to be repeated all the time. The music was bad, and the voice-acting sounded like the same guy or gal doing it in a different accent (oh, and btw everyone in this game has a british accent). Also, there were spelling errors all the time. I don't know if this is because of the british element in the game, but it annoyed me.

On the other hand, the gameply is very fun. The battle system is simple and easy to master. You can customize your hero in a variety of ways (although, compared to most other RPGs like this it is very limited). You can be good or evil (or neutral), and the fighting never seems to get old. However, there are only 3-5 suits of armor (with light and dark variants), and only four kinds of weapons: Iron, Steel, Obsidian, and Master. There are special weapons of course, but you don't get those 'till almsot the end of the game.

Finnaly, the extra content. The extra content added an hour or so snippet of gameply to the end of the game, some new legendary weapons, some new quests, and 2 new spells. There were also some additional hair-styles/tattoos as well. It was a very weak expansion pack, considering Morrowind's 2 expasion packs add about 10-20 hours of gameplay each.

In Conclusion:

This game had a great idea, but it was horribly executed. Whether you are fat or skinny or good or evil has very little to do with the story (you always have a choice between good or bad). Although you can buy a house and get married etc., that's about it. You can't have kids, you can't have pets, etc. I was hoping that Lost Chapters would fix some of this, but it did not. The game is fun, but runs out of speed very quickly.

Buy, Rent, or Forget?

Since this game is only $20, and if you like RPGs and/or the original Fable, then buy it. For the rest, rent it first. You can probably beat it in the time the rental lasts (good and bad sides), so unless you are a die-hard fan of this game, then rent it.
