Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Review by Connor42
"Sith Happens"
The movie became one of the most popular Star Wars films, well, at least where I come from, because Star Wars seemed to be considered a Just for Kids movie, until this movie came out, then, everybody was talking about it. This game is based on a really huge movie, but it's not so big of a game, because there are a lot of problems.
Being a Star Wars game, there will be lots of Star Wars action, and from the start, it's pretty good. You'll see one of the most epic space battles from what Star Wars has to provide, but you don't get to fly from that point, it's just a cut scene. Besides from that, the start of this game provides a pretty good beginning mission. You'll slice battle droids through your way, till the end of the hanger, which is the end of the level.
Fighting is very intuitive, all of your attacks go by patterns, you unlock more attacks for your Jedi, and then you can lash them out on your enemies. The block button is probably the button you are going to push to death, because you're practically unstoppable if you hold the button down. This makes the game way to easy, and to make the game even easier, the AI is pretty cheap, as they'll just run at you, pull off a few shots, and then leave themselves wide open for an attack.
The camera is an issue also, because it does'nt adjust when you're trying to do something simple, like turn around and go the other way and the camera just stays there, and then an enemy pops out right in front of you, which you would've been prepared for if the camera would just turn around. This also, makes you run blindly into an invisible wall, the game needs a camera control, because when you're in combat, the camera makes the enemies hard to see.
These are the downsides, but the game certainly has its moments, like when you're fighting duels against the bosses, and just being able to run around and kill what ever is in your way is a reward itself. The game certainly is enjoyable, when you're Anakin and are on non-stop rampage against the other Jedi in the Jedi Council.
The game is very, very, very short, and will take you a mere 5-6 hours, just to beat the game. After that, you have a few unlock-able missions, and there are 5 missions total, and you'll be able to play other characters, including General Grievous and Darth Vader, and you'll be able to play them in multiplayer. Multiplayer has a 2 player duel, and it gives the game replay value. There's also a coop mode, and it only provides 4 levels, instead of going through the entire campaign.
The graphics in this game are pretty average, but the backgrounds are spectacular to look at, whether it's the space fights in the hanger at the firs level or the exploding lavas of Mustafar. The sound in this game uses John Williams's score, and while they're pretty good, you can barely hear it sometimes. The voice acting, though, is very comparable to the movie, terrible.
In the end, Star Wars Episode III is a cool game, but it's just has a lot of problems. The campaign is short, the game is way too easy, and, probably the biggest problem, for a game based on such a huge movie, it could've featured so much more.
