Fable: The Lost Chapters
Review by ReillyTheGreat
"My hands down favorite game on any console"
I have to admit, when my brother bought this game, I was a little bit worried when I walked in on his character doing a special quest where he was forced to fight bees with a sword in his british underwear, but as I played the game, I got more and more engrossed in the storyline, and just couldn't put the controller down. As I started to progress through the quests, I realized that this was the best game on not just the xbox, but it also beat the games I have on my ps2 and gamecube.
Visual/Graphics: 9/10
Usually I dismiss the visual part of the game as unimportant, because the gameplay matters much more to me, but with this game, the graphics were extremely important to the shaping of this game. Buying and equipping different sets of armor in order to look holy, demonic, or whatever your tastes are is extremely rewarding once you find those pieces that just "click" together in order to make an awesome looking bandit or do-gooder, whatever you want.
Audio/Sound: 8/10
There's not much to say in this department, for there's nothing special that'll make you say, "Man, the soundtrack in that game was amazing!", but it makes you feel like you're actually defending yourself against that mean old bandit or slaying the evil, giant hornet queen.
Gameplay: 10/10
Ah, the crowning jewel on a fantastic game, the gameplay! Absolutely amazing. So many weapons to choose from, so many sidequests, so much stuff to kill! As you travel from town to town, helping merchants, killing bandits, or maybe even helping bandits and killing merchants, you get to decide the path you take, but be warned, choices have their effects. While being a goodie good will get butterflies to circle you and give you a halo, killing innocents, stealing, and other dark deeds make you sprout horns and turn your eyes red. The gamplay speaks for itself as you hack enemies with an axe, shoot them with your bow, or stab them with your sword. And as you unlock demon doors, obtain legendary weapons, marry a town governor with a dark secret, marry a common town girl, and unlock chests with silver keys, you will also fall in love with this great game.
Story: 9/10
A pretty good story, full of betrayals, surprises, and other unexpected turns, as you dive deeper into this storyline, it will be just another reason to play this amazing game. The story is typical, a young boy's parents are murdered and he finds out that he is the only one to save the world from the evil murderer. As you find a lost family member and see your most trusted friend betray you, you will feel the pain of losing those close to you and the joy of sucess in your quest.
Replay value: 7/10
Although you may not feel like playing the entire story over again, maxing out stats and finding secret items and weapons make this game fun to continue playing even after you have destroyed to final boss.
Buy or Rent: You should definetely buy this game and let your friends play it when they come over and watch as they choose their destiny and role in the world of Fable.
