"Fun basketball game"

ESPN NBA 2K5 is better than any other basketball video game out there. Period.

Gameplay: 10/10
2k5 has much content in terms of gameplay. You have multiple modes at the main menu that you can select, such as the regular Exhibition mode. Then there's Franchise mode, which has many fully integrated features such as one-on-one chat sessions with your players, weekly practice sessions, etc. Team chemistry is influenced by the responses you select when questioned by your players. Practice can make your team better or worse. Nothing bad here.

Story: 7/10
There isn't really a story per se in a sports game, but 2k5 has 24/7 mode, which does have a story. You play to practice and improve your basketball skills and gain reputation among many other basketball players.

Graphics: 10/10
The graphics in 2k5 are very intricate and detailed nicely, you don't have to squint to see the name on the back of a player's jersey. 2k5's graphics are excellent especially for a sports game. Graphics are, to sum up, high quality and brilliant. No problems here.

Sound: 10/10
2k5's sound is also well done. The sound effects during a ball game are adequate, such as squeaking of shoes or the crowd cheering. The sound simulates what a real NBA game would sound like. You feel like you are a part of the game. The sound is realistic and excellent. Also for the Xbox version you can use your own soundtrack if you don't like the game's soundtrack, so this is a plus. No problems here.

Replayability: 10/10
2k5 provides a vast amount of replay value, if you are a sports/basketball fan especially. If you aren't you would still enjoy the aspects of this game. There are things to do in 2k5, such as unlockables, exhibition matches, other gameplay modes, etc. You could play the game for awhile if you're really into basketball, since it's the best basketball video game so far. The replay value is very high for 2k5. ESPN NBA 2k5 should satisfy any fan of basketball or sports.

Final Recommendation: Rent, and then Buy
Rent first if you're skeptical or aren't a hardcore fan of sports/basketball. See if you enjoy it, and if you do, buy it. It should be very cheap now considering it's been out for 4+ years. It should be well worth the price nowadays. Simply the best basketball game out there for Xbox.
