Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding
Review by BA Doglick
"Amped is a fun little game but may be too hard for some"
First off, let me just say this: it is not the Tony Hawk of the snow. But its still pretty darn tootin' fun. The goals are less grind this, ollie so many that, etc. Most of them consist of getting points. But there's media point challenges and finding the snowmen challenges too. In the media point challenges, you only get points if you get them in front of the media. (However, the point requirement is lower for these, obviously) And the snowmen are pretty basic. Hit all ten, and you got it. The other stuff you can do is get sponsors(which gets you clothes and such) and impressing pros, which lets you learn new tricks. But, other than the variety of challenges, there really isn't much here. Another thing that's different from other games, there's no time limits. Yep, you read right. But don't go thinking you can slowly climb up the hill and keep getting points. Nope. If you go back uphill, it starts flashing ''go downhill!'' a lot. And when that happens, you can't get points for a couple of seconds. And plus the levels are somewhat short anyways. Now, onto the other stuff.
Graphics:7
The graphics are good, they show whats going on without too much pop up or frame problems, but they aren't exactly the shiznit.
Sound:10
This actually deserves an 11, but I don't grade that high. There's so many songs in here, and you can burn your own!and the snowmen are a hoot too. They yell: ''Hey, amigo!'' when you're close, and they scream funny when you hit them.
Control:9
The controls aren't Tony Hawk good, but they work very well. You can either press in one of the buttons(and hold R to tweak it), or you can use the right stick. The only fret I have is that the A button is tailgrab, and I tend to hold down A after I finish my tricks, to keep going. Oh, and a nifty little feature that'll get you out of a lot of crap, the back button puts you back a little, in case you get stuck under a log.
Tricks:4
Not enough of them. Simple as that. You earn some more later, but in the end, it's too little.
Replay:6
The game is fun, but its too difficult that you will probably give up thye career mode when you have about a Worl Rank of 75(a little more than halfway through). And since the career mode is pretty much the game, yeah, you'll just put it away.
Difficulty:Hard
They ask too much of you. Levels are too short to do much, some levels have about three rails and a couple jumps, and expect you to get a whoppin amount of points, which is impossible.
Summary:Rent this game if you don't have a lot of patience. Buy if you do.
