Dead to Rights
Review by ZackEshna
"You'll need a lot of help, yeah, even you shooter veterans."
Intro: First Things First & Author Opinions & Tipz
-Steep learning curve, but once you get it down, it's a lot of fun.
-Do not turn off the volume as Jack will give you helpful hints along the way.
-Never underestimate the power of a human shield or a gas canister, and for that matter, Shadow, your dog.
-Never give up during fist fights. Remember the R button.
Author's Notice(s):
Okay, my name is ZackEshna, first review here, but Dead To Rights was such an awesome game that was overlooked because of it's difficulty. One last thing.
**The grade you see on the reviews page is the Fun Factor, not the numerical score**
Graphics (8/10)
The textures look good from afar, especially when you're not concentrating on them. But when there is a calm momentt in the game, you notice that they are just plain awful. A bit jaggy, plain colored, not very detailed. You can see that gameplay came before graphics. Example. In a certain unnamed level, the jacket that Jack Slate wears looks like a pinnacle of shadow and lighting. Then you figure out that it looks the same from anywhere.
Sound (6/10)
You don't generally pay attention to sound in shooter games, basically, there is none. But if you are in the city streets, you hear silence, in a building you might hear music playing through the speakers around the place. But even though I'm sure you'll be tempted to play some Industrial or Hard Rock for this game, don't. Jack Slate says occasional phrases that will help you a lot. I was stuck in a certain level for hours, and was posting at the message board over and over (you know who you are). Then I got bored of the music I was playing and turned on the game music. Jack told me how to get past it. Yeah, lol, lol your *** off.
Control (10/10)
Pick up and play controls. If you've played Max Payne though, you will have trouble.
R - Target/Block/Dodge
R Analog - Look around, change target
L - Crouch
L Analog - Move
D Pad - Weapon Manager
Black - First Person Aim
White - Not quite sure
A - Fire/Punch
B - Disarm/Throw/Cancel Throw/Hold/Action
X - Kick
Y - Dive/Slow Motion
Just incase you don't have the manual people. But they are so easy to pick up. You get used to it in a 1/2 hour. But you'll have trouble in the first real level. See tips above.
Learning Curve/Difficulty (Changing)
LC: STEEP. See tips and message board.

Do NOT give up. No matter what. And utilize ALL four save slots. Sometimes you may want to start over from an earlier point if you're stuck. Expect many horrible copies of this game from other companies. But remember, the original is always best. There are tons of good people on the DTR message boards that are totally willing to help you, even if they are a bit cocky at times. Don't get too angry, remember the point: HAVE FUN.
