Blinx: The Time Sweeper

"Great... but is it a legendary platformer?"

Blinx is nothing short of an amazing XBOX title but it is definitely far from being perfect.

Some may argue that Blinx has the best graphics on the XBOX next to Halo (of course) and I would have to agree with them! Everything about this game is beautiful! But Blinx unfortunately has a problem. It is a platformer game (in my opinions the best games out there) but doesn't seem to have what the perfect platform games thrive on. And that is... the fun factor. Not to say Blinx is not fun to play, it certainly is, but lets be honest! Is it as fun as Mario Sunshine, Conkers Bad Fur Day, Mario 64, or every the late great Donkey Kong Country. I know its not really fair to put Blinx against Mario since Mario games have been in development for almost 20 years!!!

Now I am certainly not a Nintendo fan boy in anyway! The BOX is my favorite system by a long shot, but just because Blinx is really the only platformer on the BOX I am not gonna be biased and say its better than SMS. Do I still own SMS? No! And because it got boring way too fast. Blinx is one of thee most original games I have ever played! And it does a darn good job of being an excellent platformer at the same time! Lets face it, there is no other system on the earth that can play Blinx besides the BOX. So Nintendo or Sony FB's eat your heart out!

Graphics 10/10: You can't get much better than this. The most beautiful platformer I have ever seen. The best part is the closer the camera gets the better the graphics!!!

Sound 8/10: Some pretty catchy tunes. The japanese voices are nice but I do wish you could put it in English as well. But it also does save it from poor voice acting!

Controls 10/10: Nice and tight like a great platformer should be. Complain about the camera and your a fool! Remember people these are 3-D games (4-D is this case, haha) there is always gonna be something in the way!!! Just move the right thumbstick around! Too hard for some people I guess!?!?!?

Gameplay 7/10: This is where the ouch! comes in. Some things just seem not to well thought out here. For instance the monsters. Some of the stupidest monsters I have seen!!! One the main enemies is a bouncing green circle/balloon creature with eyes. How uninspired is that! Only being able to hold 3 time alter what every you call them abilities is dumb. I mean you should at least be able to hold one of each. Having to match the crystals is a bit stupid as well. But it does add for a nice challenge. Some people may not think those are problems at all, but it does equal one thing? A LESS FUN GAME THAN THE OTHER GREAT PLATFORMERS OUT THERE! That last line right there sums up the whole review and is what puts it behind the other great platformers out there, but is a game the the XBOX definitely needed!!!
