Blinx: The Time Sweeper
I will start out by saying this: THIS GAME IS NOT FOR MOST PEOPLE!!!It may be interesting to some but for me, I'd rather play the demo of NFL FEVER 2003 instead of this. That's the only reason I see for it. This game is a disappointment. Actually, I'd rather watch the Xbox Live preview than to play this. This is just sad.
GRAPHICS 9/10
This is by far The best part of the game. The is very little difference from the cut-scenes to the gameplay. The game is great in this department. Blinx is detailed from glowing green cat eyes to steel toed boots he beats every platform on the Xbox to this date. It's hard to enjoy the graphics when you die in a single hit though.
Sound 4/10
The songs go good with the environments that you play in, but they aren't really that good. To me, this backround songs aren't that important because you could always turn it down and play your own music.
The enemies' sounds are distinguishable with others which can be helpful most of the time. If you play this game enough you'll learn to hate the retry sound though. All the time controls sound really annoying but the retry sound stands out.
Gameplay 2/10
This is where I really started to hate Blinx. There are a lot of really annoying things about this gameplay.
Blinx's most annoying and aggravating attribute is dying in a single hit. Sure, you get a few retry's but that doesnt help at all. You'll sometimes find yourself find yourself getting hit by an enemy from behind and then fall off a cliff. So you don't really care since you still have that retry reserved for a surprise like this. Then as you wait for the game and turn the volume down so you don't have to hear that painfully annoying retry sound. So you're waiting and watching yourself fall off the cliff again. Then you're like ''''What The Heck!''. Guess what just happened? You just got screwed into dying again because the game convenietly gave you .00001 seconds to jump out of the way of the son of a gun that killed you in the first place! If that doesnt sound aggravating to you now just rent the game and see how good you feel when you have to do a stage for the eighth time. I found that this happened to me about 35 percent of the time that I died. A major turn-off indeed.
Another thing is the horrible combination of homing garbage and a bad camera angle. This is a pain in later levels when you fight enemies that die with more than one hit that are close together. Since garbage explodes upon impact[?] you will sometimes end up wasting garbage. This is not a problem in early levels where you have twelve times the ammunition you need but it is in later ones when you have about 1.2 the ammunition that you need. NOTE: Enemies are invincible when they are on the attack or after they get hit
REPLAY 1/10
Blinx Will Not keep you interested until you beat the game. It gets old really fast. Killing green blobs and flying octopuses in under ten minutes is not fun. Here's a suggestion:1RENT it 2.get to level
two so you can try it yourself 3. quit there so you can: 1. avoid taking Blinx and your Xbox back to the store and 2. avoid having to tell Blockbuster that you broke the game because it was too hard and boring.
There's only one reason to but this game though. It's so that you can feel free at any time to break into as little pieces as you can.
OVERALL 5/10 [not averaged]
Binx could be fun for a long time to some but that is a very few. It's not great at all. The only thing that this game has that's original is the time controls but you need to use then wisely which takes out all the fun esp. with a timer.
There are plenty of things that you can still ramble on about with Blinx{difficulty, no two-player, lack of settings, price of things to make the game itself fun, basic story, etc.} but I'd rather leave the guys at Artoon with some dignity. If you want a reference here's one:
I wanted to take Blinx back the SECOND day I RENTED it.
It makes me sad to have to say this about an Xbox game but it's the truth.
There are two things that will happen to you while you play Blinx: you'll either be bored out of you mind during the first few levels or you'll be ready to dropkick it.
I prefer dropkicking it out the window.
