The Thing

"I great game to play especially when you watch the movie one day before"

I was very surprised how good this game was. This game takes place after “The Thing” movie so if you haven’t seen the movie yet, do not read this review. I don’t want to ruin a great movie for my fellow GameFAQs users.

As I said above this takes place after the thing movie. You are the rescue crew they talk about in the movie and your looking for survivors at the base. When you find survivors they will help you in the game. Like, some are medics so they will heal you without using medical kits. There are soldiers that are the best shooters. Mechanics can fix stuff you can’t. All the people you get to join you, you can give them guns, flame throwers, etc.

Another cool thing is trust and fear. To make people help you; you need to make them trust you, by giving them guns etc. But you can also make them loose trust, by shooting them or taking their guns away. And there is also fear, they will get scared by how scary a dead body is. And will not help as good.

One of the coolest thing is if they “Thing out”. I can’t tell you what that is because I don’t want to spoil it for you. But when you see it you’ll be like sweet.

The graphics aren’t bad. They look a lot like a PS2 port, which it is, but with Bump Mapping which makes it look a lot better. The blood looks nice. And the “Things” and people look nice. It is a all around nice looking game.

Controls are easy to get used to. There are also three different control sets so if you don’t like one you’ll like another.

GUNS!!!.. This game has I nice selection of guns Flame-throwers, Shotguns, Rocket launchers, Grenades, machine guns, Grenades launchers, and pistols. And more.

One thing I didn’t like about the game is, there is almost no replay value, since the game is the same every time you play it. And there is no multiplayer. But very sweet the first time you play it.

Rusty’s final thought: This game is a very good game, the best when you first play it. But it is a very short game and almost no replay value. Which in my opinion makes this game a rent not a buy. One other thing please people watch the movie before you play the game, or it will not make as much since. Have Fun!!
