Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance
Review by ManeMane
"A very good KOMEBACK! .. .."
Mortal Kombat is back! (NOOO!!) But don't worry, thats a good thing this time. When you think of Mortal Kombat you usually think of a fighting series that more crappy games then bad, but hey, atleast there movies are bad ass.(I think so anyways =p)Something must have clicked in the brains of the people in Midway and they decided to change the formula of there past games and try something new with this game. If only the people who make them Army Man games would do the same... anyways, back to the review!
Graphics: 9.5/10
The graphics in this game are excellent. From the level of detail of the characters to the impressive backgrounds, this 3D fighter's graphics are pretty much top notch. The blood is plentiful and the best part about it is that the blood actually stays on the ground. =)
Sound: 10/10
The sound is excellent in this game. From the sounds of your fist connecting with your opponent's face to the sounds of there screams as you perform a fatality, the sound is perfect. Even the sounds of bones crunching, its all there! The background music is also good.
Gameplay: 10/10
Each character in the game has 3 styles of fighting. For instance: Scorpion has Hapkido, Pi Gua, and his Ninja Sword fighting styles. I think that is a big factor in this game. It is pretty awesome when you combine all 3 styles together in one combo.
Another very cool part of this game is earning koins and going to the krypt. You earn various koins through the game by either playing in arcade mode or konquest mode(konquest mode basically teaches you how to play and gives a lot of background information on the character you choose to go through it with.) You collect koins and take them to the krypt, to purchase prizes hidden in tombstones. Here you can stumble upon getting a new character, an alternate look for a character, a new arena, and other cool things. This makes the single player mode a lot more entertaining.
One thing you can expect from this game which is pretty much a trademark of any Mortal Kombat game is a sub boss so frustratingly difficult it'll make you punch your dog RIGHT IN THE FACE. >.<
KONCLUSION:
This is a very good fighting game for those who are die hard MK fans and those who aren't. I went into this game having high expectations and this game pretty much was everything I expected it to be. I'd recomend this game to anyone who enjoys fighting games.
Buy or Rent:
If you are into fighting games I'd go ahead and buy it, if you aren't you might as well rent it first. Its always safer that way anyway.
