Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Review by devilsminion
"You are a cute girl with the power of the ultimate slayer!!!"
Buffy the game,
If you are a fan of the tv series Buffy or have watched the movie and liked it you are in for quite the treat. This game follows the series very well if fact with the awesome graphics you will feel as if you are part of a movie. It usually becomes a) a great game or b) or a sloppy attempt when a developer gets the rights to a movie or tv series and here it is an excellent game.
Graphics:
The best description would be awe inspiring. This game is so beautiful the motion of the charaters is so fluid giving you the a sense of realism impossible on the older consoles. The lighting and shadow effects simply amazing giving a true eerie feeling. The moves you use to fight are awesome as you progress you gain slayer power giving you the ability to perform powerfull combos. Using weapons like simple stakes to cross bows with bolts that can be combined with items to create even more powerful weapons. This game is trully an unrecognized triumph in gaming and really deseves more credit than it has gotten.
Gameplay:
This game follows a story line and it's up to you to make your way through it. Through this journey you will fight many of bloodsucking vampires who will do there best to stop you. You will fight some bosses who will require some weapons you picked up along the way. The vampires use great dialogue when they attack you taunting you with there's only one of you and many of us don't sweat it though Buffy has her own lines she uses. There are many levels to go through and many sub levels. There are secrets to discover along the way.
There are a couple of levels of difficulty that after you finish the game you may want to try a harder level of difficulty. Other than that there is no multiplayer which would have been kinda of hard to do.
The game is smooth and fluid and has to be easily one of the best games of 2002. The FMV's are awesome and just gives a great sense of story.
Sound:
The game uses 5.1 dolby surround and gives an awesome sense of eeriness. Hearing the vampires taunting you to the sounds of weapons and sounds of the punches and kicks are just so real. It is trully is a remarkable game.
Replayability:
The game is lengthy and is a great fun working your way through. However the only thing that is there to play it again is to up the level of difficulty. However if you wait a couple of months I am sure you will want to try to work your way through as it is a fun game.
Overall:
This game was made well done and is an excellent show piece of what a tv or movie can be made into. With games like this and The Thing we are really getting great games.
