SSX Tricky
Review by DragonFlames
"Extreme Snowboarding Goodness"
Snowboarding fans, it's time to hit the slopes with X-Box's version of the Playstation SSX snowboarding series, SSX Tricky. Intense challenges, tough competitors, treachorous slopes, and attitude. This is what a snowboarding game should be.
The basic object of the game is to score medals and incresase your rider's ranking and stats my achieving medals in the two different circuit modes, which are Race and Showoff.
The basic object of Race is to beat the other boarders to the finish line. Sounds easy, doesn't it? Well, it's not. The slopes in the game are dangerous, and you will be facing more than just the other boarders, but the mountain itself.
Showoff mode, a.k.a Trick Attack. The goal is to pull off as many insane tricks and stunts as you can before you reach the finish line or your time runs out. There are bonus flakes in the air you can use to multiply your score.
You can truly take advantage of your characters' special moves, which are known as Uber tricks.
Uber tricks are the special moves of this game. With 5 standard Uber tricks per character, the selection is quite satisfying. Uber tricks are one thing that makes this game very exciting. In order to use one of these moves, you must boost of your Boost bar by performing large tricks and huge air, and combos. In addition to the 5 default Uber tricks, the Uber tricks can also be changed by what type of board you are using.
There are three different types of snowboards you can use for your rider in this game. The types are BX, Alpine, and my favorite, Freestyle. A BX board is best for gliding down the slopes at high speed and are also great for performing tricks. Alpine boards are the fastest of all three types of boards, but they are bad for performing tricks. Freestyle boards are the best boards for performing insane tricks, but are not very fast on the slopes.
Riders of this game all have their own personal profile and stats. Each rider is fully customizable in their appearance of clothing and their snowboard. There are both male and female characters in the game, coming from countries such as Canada, United States, Britian, France, and Japan.
During your World Circuit, you can make new friends and enemies depending on your actions throughout the series. While knocking someone out will make them an enemy, watching their back and making sure their enemies dont give them trouble can help make you gain new friends. The choice is yours. Enemies will attack you, while friends will watch your back.
So, if you are looking for some good, extreme snowboarding action, this game may be just what you are loooking for. Treacherous slopes will provide you with plenty of challenges, and fun. So I strap on your gear, and pick on this awesome game, and get ready for some intense boarding action.
