X2: Wolverine's Revenge
Review by Logan074
"The best there is for Wolverine fans"
Greetings, this is my first review of a game and I will keep it short and sweet. X2 Wolverine's Revenge is the best Wolverine game that has been made so far. Could it be better, yes. Is it worth your hard earned cash? YES. Now I have followed Wolverine since the early 80s and he is one of my favorite comic personalities. I am pleased that a game has been made that fans can really appreciate. so here is a few thoughts.
GAME CONTROL
You have full access to all of Logan's special abilities. Do you want to sniff the air for enemies? You can and see a green trail of odor. Use your heightened eyesight to view heat emissions of people in the distance or footprints. You have a number of ''strikes'' available to you, kind of like Mortal Kombats finishing moves. Then you have the claws. It is worth it all just to go out running and slicing everything that moves.
This game is also part Metal Gear Solid. Yes you can run and slice, but to earn dogtags, which allows you to earn more strikes, you need to sneak up using your stealth mode and do a silent kill. The more tags, the better the score. The choice of how you play is yours...super violent or super ninja. This games takes patience. You can stay low in darkened corners and retract your claws, which is the only method to heal, and just wait for the guard to turn away. Then sneak out, and attack without a sound. Instant dogtag!
BONUS
If you find various bonus icons, you get great little gifts. want to use the X2 movie costume? You can. Ultimate Wolverine's comic suit? The famous brown and gold? Or even dress up like Patch from Wolverine's early comics, just find the comic book covers hidden in the game. Or find the Cerebro files, to open up various bios, read by Patrick Stewart. One other neat little surprise, the game manual includes an updated history of Logan, including the history from the Origin comic book. Did you know that Logan's real name was James Howlett? Just a little added bit that really makes this a fun game to get.
COMPLAINTS
My only gripe is Mark Hamill. I love the work of Hamill, and though he gives his best here, I just can't see him as Wolverine. Patrick Stewart does an excellent job as Professor X. Also the other voiceovers are good. I have reached Sabertooth and he sounds just right for this game, more like the comic than the movie.
So there is just a few thought, you buy it and enjoy, you will not be sorry.
