Kung Fu Chaos

"To much interactivity kills"
Okay, let me start by saying that I loved this game the first 5 minutes I played it in the shop I bought it. After those 5 minutes I decided to buy it, man was I in for a nasty surprise.
The game is all about Kung-Fu (duh) Generally, you and 3 others are pitted in a level that constantly moves, and you've gotta kill the others as many times as you can before time runs out, while trying not to fall of the stage.
The game looks okay, and everything has a high 70'/ cartoon rate to it, no wonder cause that's what this game is based on: the 70' Kung-Fu films.
The game boasts a healthy collection of 7 gamemodes overall, although some are a little similar.
As for the most important ones: you have the battlemode, which should be the beating heart of this game, and a storymode which is mainly used to unlock things for battle.
In storymode you face challenges that soon grow from simple to very frustrating, and that frustrating bit is the thing that kills this game. You see, the arena's you fight in are very interactive and are always on the move. While this may sound cool, it sadly is only irritating, because the stages are moving so fast and before you know it, you are smashed beneath a rock, thrown of a building, drowning in a swamp, etc etc etc. If you want to stay alive, all you're gonna be doing is running! You don't even have time to fight cause you've gotta keep up with the constantly moving stage! The game sometimes gives you a warning when danger is approaching, but in the heat of battle, you'll never see it, although the CPU opponents, which you can enable, are never having trouble with this at all, so you get the nasty feeling the game cheats on you.
This game would have been great if the stages had not been moving at all, or very little. Last but not least, the stage always ends somewhere and you are given a sign to finish the fight, people, for crying out loud, either make it move continuously in a circuit, or don't make it move at all! There is a grand total of 1 level in this game that doesn't move, and that's the training level. I gotta tell you, I've probably spend more time on that stage, then anywhere else in this entire game. And I don't think that's what this game was designed for.
People are often complaining how the environments in fighting games are so non-interactive......well, I guess there is also a 'too much interactivity'.
When you see this game in your local store, try not to be distracted by the alluring feel this game gives the first few minutes you play it, because I guarantee you, you'll be returning this game the day you bought it!
