Blood Omen 2
Review by luburulz
"Blood has tasted sweeter, but, also more bitter."
Well, I just want to say first and foremost, I am a big Legacy of Kain series fan. And basically, I was expecting more from this game. Soul Reaver 2 was awesome, and I was expecting something up to the par that Soul Reaver 2 was. But, I got an about average game. Not saying that it's bad..it could be much worse. But it could have definitely been better.
Gameplay- 6/10
I'll sum it up in a few words. Kill a guy, drink his blood. Steal his weapon. Run around, kill more guys. Drink their blood. Steal their weapons so your's doesn't break or become unusable. Then once you do all this great killing and blood drinking you get to..*gasp* FLIP SOME SWITCHES!!! Exciting! Thrilling! Shocking! Not. I am not bashing the game here, but seriously. The gameplay could have be so much, much, much, more here.
Graphics- 8/10
Well, the graphics are good. And that is always good! The people are detailed decently. The blood drinking is kind of..farfetched looking, but still, the graphics make it look good. The buildings and background scenery are what really make this score so high.
Sounds/Music- 7/10
Well..I don't really think the music is not here. The sound is alright...I mean, when you drink blood from someone, you get the sound of someone drinking the last of a soda or something from a can with a straw. Thrilling.
Overall Rating: 7/10
The overall rating for Blood Omen 2 is a 7. There is not really anything great in this game to make you go out and buy it immediately. There are a few good things, like every once and a while, Kain gets a costume change. The wear and tear on weapons is also pretty nice. But the puzzles, and the fighting hurt it. It could have been much much better.
Rent or Buy
RENT! Definitely rent this one. You might even beat it before you take it back. The graphics and everything are alright. It is just, I am not really that patient in some games. And I lost my patience in this game pretty quickly. I mean, it is just..switches. The fighting is not really that great, either. I mean, it's slashing, and some blocking. The boss fights are the best fighting in the game though, which is not much of a surprise. But definitely rent, UNLESS you are 100% sure that you'll enjoy it, or you just want to have it to add to your Legacy of Kain collection.
