X2: Wolverine's Revenge

X2 wolverine's revenge could have been so much better, if the developers had more time. That being said, I am not an Xmen fanatic but i do enjoy the movies. Here's a quick review for X2 wolverine's revenge.

Basically you play as Wolverine and you have 72 hours to find a cure for a virus that was in your body for years but has become active just recently. The race is on as you fight enemies like Sabertooth, wendigo, magneto, lady deathstrike....etc. A good story, short, simple, and to the point.

Graphics: 9/10
I am not big on graphics since I concentrate mostly on gameplay but wolverine's revenge has very nice graphics. It's not the best but very close to halo-style graphics.

Sound: 10/10

This is probably the one area where wolverine's revenge can't go wrong because you can rip your own songs to the xbox hardrive and play it during the game.

Gameplay: 5/10
This is where the problems begin. What wolverine's revenge succeeds in doing is mimicking wolverine and his abilities. These abilities include accelerated healing factor, retractable claws, adamantium laced skeleton, and heightened senses. The controls are very well done. The game allows you to do a few basic combos and strikes, which are sequences of various combinations performed by the game itself. Although this is limiting, it still is cool to watch. You really get the feel like you are wolverine himself. Unfortunetely it fails in one particular area.....difficulty. This game is insanely difficult You are only allowed to save at the end of each level and if you die you have to start from the beginning, which is extremely aggravating This is why the game is not meant for all people. You will find yourself playing levels over and over again and you will constantly want to hit something. Overall, this is the only major flaw this game really has.

Extras: 8/10
Not bad at all.....costumes, production art, FMVs, challenges...could have been better if there was a multiplayer mode though. Maybe one where you can battle friends or play coop, that would have been nice. If a multiplayer mode had been implemented, then this game would have had better replay value.

Overall experience: 6/10
This game would have been so much better if it wasn't so difficult and frustrating. My advice is to rent this game first and get Past Act 2...this way you will have a good feel of what the game is really like.
