Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War
Review by NeoPenquinX
"A Return to Greatness"
To put it simple RTCW is one of the better FPS' out there. It would be hard to compare this game to something like Halo. But there’s no way you can over look it.
Gameplay: Customizing the controls in RTCW is very detailed in the aspect that it gives you the ability to change the speed in which the horizontal and vertical speed. That alone makes the game easier to pick up and play. In game changing also makes the testing of it feel natural. Like in past installments of Wolfenstein blasting Nazis and Zombies is always fun. Along with the great controls the placement of health is helpful. The stages are large and fun. Getting from place to place does not feel forced. With a high replay value this is a great way to pass the time until the next great FPS.
Story: The story isn’t anything to get excited about. Then again no one plays a FPS for the story. Its a bonus and is usually nothing great. But for some reason skipping the movie like cut scenes is harder than it sounds. Only because it seems to bring you in and make you want more. Not all games can do that. And when they do they can sometimes lose something in the fun factor of it all.
Audio/Video: The visuals are by far some of the better ones in a recent XBox game. Not saying they are the greatest but they aren’t the worst at all. Some may not care what they see but that is a lie. The visuals make a game a game. The audio in this game to is something great. Being able to hear your enemies before the fire a shot makes the feeling so much more real. Looking on to the game one can only think that it is truly a lot of fun. The visuals are crisp and can still keep at steady frame rate. Its hard to ignore them. The game never really slowed down at all and had little load times.
Replayability: The multiplayer in RTCW is enough to buy the game. But the game itself is good enough to bring you back again and again. Its hard to take this out into many words other than you wont get tired of this game easily.
To buy or to rent?: This is a must buy for any FPS fan. Renting it will just up the cost to $60 bucks. Buy this game if you like a fun shooter that doesn’t get old easy. But if you are unsure of your like for an FPS try renting it. You don’t like it then you saved yourself some money. If you do you got a great new game. But no matter which one you fall into this game is a must play by all those who want a good game. Kick back, relax, and get ready to lose some sleep. This game will keep you up till the early hours of the morning only to leave you wanting more.
All in all this is a good buy and XBox owner should have.
