Pirates of the Caribbean
Review by Smashure
"Not so good"
Graphics 10/10. The graphics are incredible considering the fact that they had to program 8 different worlds with several full areas with trees, grass, and rocks. The Water is what the programmers put most into this. The waves and water are VERY real.
Story 9/10. The story is what you make of it. It really is a choose your own route rpg. There is a main story that you can follow but there are other things (missions, sea battles) to do. You can go as deep as you want or just beat the game.
Game Control 5/10. The sword fighting consists of 3 buttons. attack, guard, and dodge. Much needed improvement in that area. the sailing controls are amateur but needed to be simple for the average joe.
Sound 6/10. The sound is a constant loop. Every time you talk to a person you read the text but hear a sound byte that is the person talking. Every person says the same thing on this sound byte and it will drive you INSANE. The sound of a ship firing it's cannons sound very real however. It's the only reason sound got a six.
Game Play 2/10. Playing this game is more frustrating than it is fun. You MUST save every 30 seconds. In the game it gives you tips between loading screens. One of the says to save every chance you get because you don't know what can be waiting for you around every corner. Well I never had a problem with something waiting for me around a corner. What you really need to save for is this game is Infested with bugs. Just browsing through a menu can cause the game to crash. in between big loading areas can cause the game to crash. The game is too bug ridden to even be enjoyable.
Overall: 3/10
I could not enjoy this game because every 5 minutes (NO EXAGGERATION!! it really was every 5 minutes) it would crash. There are also bugs in the missions. You're supposed to give something to someone but giving them something is never an option. I would not suggest buying this game or even renting it. You can't beat either way without ripping out some hair. The standard rpg experience points still hold true with this game with skill points in different areas of being a sailor. there is a cut off at 10 for each skill. There should not be such a quick cut off.
