"A little different perspective from the others!!"

This Review is a random assortment of my various impressions of the game. .

First, let me say, Pirate gets bonus points for capitalizing on the Movie. It has nothing to do with the movie, so if you want to relive the movie, this might not be the best route, but it is the route I took.

Now then. . .
Pirates, formally known as Sea Dogs II, is still a pretty good game. It is rampant with bugs, moreso than I've seen in almost any console game, but still fully playable. I would advise saving often. . .

The graphics are pretty nice, nothing special, but they get the job done. The sea graphics are far better than the land ones. There are no options for the look of your character, strange for an rpg of this type, but you can change your ship, (even adding more), and your officers.

Note. . .
The characters are very slow moving. . .like Resident Evil or something. . .And when you sail, your boat goes pretty dang slow. . .accurate, but not as exciting as it could have been. (Equation: Slow +game/combat = Pirates.)

As for more gameplay details, the game starts out a little hard as you try to figure out how to fight, especially more than one person. . .yet, soon enough, it gets very easy, as you can capture boats--and create an armada of sorts.

By the way, there is a large trade system in the game, (for you to make money, ect.), but I found it kinda useless when I could make 20x as much stealing boats.

Thus, Once you figure out how to steal boats and have your armada, the game gets insanely easy, but, not to the point that it gets boring. . .

There, that's Pirates in a nutshell.. .

IT's a decent game, hurt because it had to come out with the movie, when it was clearly not done, (thus, the bugs), but, all in all, the amount of stuff you can do, on land and sea, make it a fun game, at least for a while.

I gave it a 7 because it feels unfinished, along with just having gameplay that is way too slow; No create a player is disappointing as well.

On the plus side, having a fleet of ships, and being a pirate is still a lot of fun, even with the above mentioned cons.

Thus, Probably should be a rental, as there are better games out there. . .But if bought, Pirates can keep you entertained for a decent amount of time during these slow summer months.
