Voodoo Vince
Review by simsman24000
"Innovation, action, hysteria, and fun--all in one!"
Story - 8/10
Vince is the third best Voodoo Doll in Madame Charmaine's shop. However, when the mystical French woman gets kidnapped by Cosmo the Inscrutable, it's up to good ol' Vince to save her. And how does he go about doing this heroic deed? By hurting himself. Have fun.
The storyline in this game is pretty unique. If you're looking for an original, innovative plot, then Voodoo Vince is right up your alley. The storyline in itself delivers plentiful laughs and giggles.
Gameplay - 9/10
Voodoo Vince has one of the most up-and-coming styles of gameplay in games today. Shared only by Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, Vince's main form of entertainment relies on the player's abillity to smash, burn, shock, impale, and explode Vince--and so much more. By hurting himself, Vince is able to, in retrospect, hurt others. Get it? He's a VOODOO DOLL!
But if hurting yourself isn't your style, Vince will have you kicking, punching, head slamming your way to Madame Charmaine. And, of course, like other platformers, Vince includes several levels in which you control unique vehicles--scratch that--wacky vehicles. VV adds plenty of side quests and secrets that are sure to get you addicted. Believe me, the gameplay is one aspect of VV that you won't have to worry about if you're an avid platformer.
Sound - 9/10
Possibly the only two games to have better sound than VV are GTA: Vice City and The Simpsons: Hit & Run. The soundtrack to Vince is mystical, funky, and all-around cool. If only Dance Dance Revolution used Voodoo Vince's beats, we'd have an awesome time right there. Trust me on this one--Vince definitely has his groove on all the time.
Controls - 9/10
I really had no problem with the controls on this one. I'm a fast learner, but that shouldn't stop slower ones from getting used to the controls fast as well. They're pretty much self-explanatory and easy to use as you get along in the game.
Camera - 9/10
The same as the controls, using the camera was no problem. It's very flexible and has several views, so you can definitely have a fun time with this. It's not one of those horrible platforming cameras--THANK GOD.
Replay - 8/10
The replay value in Voodoo Vince is definitely strong. Who can ever get tired of continious self-brought pain? I, for one, cannot. I've already beat Voodoo Vince three times, and I never get tired of it--I'm halfway through on my fourth. If you're an avid platformer, or just a fan of Voodoo Dolls, I'd definitely recommend a buy. However, if you're looking to see what the game is like, or heard good reviews of it, then by all means, rent. But it's up to you.
Overall, this game is extremely fun, and is a great game both to play and to watch it be played. If you're looking for a treat, go out and play Voodoo Vince.
