Pirates: The Legend of Black Kat
Review by cazwik1
"Wishy Washy, this game blows hot and cold"
Story - 6/10 - The storyline in this game is unoriginal and lame. You play Kat, a young, adventurous, and very attractive woman. You have to avenge your mother and father. A really, really, really, mean pirate named Hawk killed both of them. Now, while trying to avenge your parents, you are also trying to acquire some stones that will give you a map to your mother's hidden treasure in the (are you ready for this)''Secret Isles.'' Wow. This game had the potential to be good, however it copies ever other pirate game out there.
Graphics - 10/10 - The graphics in this game are superb in my opinion. There is a great horizon, and when you are on land you can see ships floating in the water. The cut scenes are weak, but the gameplay graphics is fantabulous! I know, I know, that's a made up word, but that's the best I can describe it.
Control - 7/10 - The control in this game isn't horrible, it isn't great, its just average. Moving around is easy enough, but just hacking at enemies gets old. And Kat does the same kind of attacks all the time. While the gameplay is easy, its a little too easy, and too repetitive.
Sound - 4/10 - There is no music in this game, which is quite lame. The voices when people are talking are O.K., but this game lacks a serious adventure soundtrack. Sometimes, when something big is about to happen, semi-exciting music plays for a few seconds. But other than that, the sound sucks!
Challenge - 8/10 - This game borders on easy and hard. There is a serious flaw in this game, and that's that the opponents are waaaay to easy. Gameplay is open ended so you have to think about what to do next and you have to listen hard to what people say or it may take you a while to figure out where to go next.
Replayability - 2/10 - Other than if you want to get secret conkshells, then the game is the same the second time you play through it. The secret conkshells just opens an option at the main menu screen. In this option, per conkshell that you find, there is a handdrawn picture of something that happened to you during the game. I.E. Your final showdown with Hawk. This is kind of lame.
Multiplayer - 8/10 - This is one of the few things that I enjoy about this game. Me and my brother could battle each other in the ships for ever. There is little strategy in sea battles other than press the cannon button faster than the other person. Its strangely erotic when you manage to blow up their ship though.
Overall - 6/10 - This is not an average, but probably close. This is what I think of the game. There are many things that could have been improved on.
