Grand Theft Auto Double Pack
Review by akilshohen
"Lives up to the Hype"
introduction
This is the Grand Theft Auto double pack. This consists of Grand Theft Auto III and Grand theft Auto: Vice City. Grand Theft auto III is the controversial game that has sold about 7 million copies on PS2 alone. Grand Theft auto'' Vice city is a side story in the series set in 1986. Both have you playing a run of the mill criminal moving up the ranks of the Italian mob in order to establish his own dynasty.
Gameplay
This game is all about freedom. You have a whole city to explore. In GTA III you are stuck on the streets. In Vice City, you can go inside buildings and even own property. You have many options in both games. You can follow the story if you choose. The main story is made up of many missions the are given to you by people around the Cities in both games. You can complete the mission in almost any way you choose. If you get frustrated while playing a mission or you just wanna do something else, you still have many options. You can simply walk or drive around and explore the city, or take a side job. The side jobs are policeman, taxi driver, ambulance worker and more. These jobs add things to your save points like health or extra guns. There are also 100 hidden packages hidden in each city in both games. Collecting these will also add guns and other power ups to your save points. This game has a lot of stuff to do so you should have lots of play time.
Graphics/Sound
This game has good graphics. It's not XBOX standard, but they're not ugly. Some character models in the game are blocky, while other are nicely done. One plus is that you can see really far into the city and your third person perspective give you a feeling that you're in a big gigantic city. You also get a nice day/night system and the scene in the city changes accordingly. One thing I advise people to do it to turn off the trails, they will make you pretty dizzy. Overall, this game is up to standard with this generations graphics.
The sounds of the game are excellent. You hear lots of things that you would normally hear in a city. Each citizen in the city has a voice in Vice city, while the citizens in GTA III are pretty quiet aside from screams. In vice city, it's pretty fun to go around the city hearing the different conversations the citizens have. There's also one more thing I forgot to mention.... THE MUSIC! Both games have a wide selection of music and supports custom soundtracks. In both games you have about 8 or 9 radio stations to choose from when you get into a car. You have a choice from classical, pop, rap, rock, a talk station and more. IN Vice City, you get a lot of 80's music from big name artists including Luther Vandross Michael Jackson, Twisted sister, cutting crew and more. This game has lots of music and sounds to give the game a good ambience.
Play Time/Replayability
This game has ton of replayability. After you're done with the game, you can go back and mess around with the city. If you missed collecting any packages you can get those. There are also many races you can enter and win for extra money. This games is easily about 40-50 hours.
Final Recommendation
This is definitely a game worth buying. It's one of the best games to come out in years. Never before has a game had so much freedom. Everyone who likes games should play it.
